Plasti dip question

So I picked up some plasti dip and tried it on my front emblem. I'm curious as to whether or not this texture is how it's meant to look, or just user error.

Also was wondering how many cans I would need to do my front/rear bumper and limited trim around wheel wells and bottom my doors.

Any insight on this stuff would be great

For the texture, if it's REALLY rough, it didnt mix well, or you got too close. A cool trick I learned is to do a few coats, take some paint thinner and a brush, brush a little over the plasti dip, then do one more coat of plast dip. For the trim pieces and bumper, do you mean like the grey plastic cladding on some of the '03s?

If it comes out textured (fuzzy) you sprayed to far and/or to light of coats, If it comes out textured it doesn't affect its durability just the appearance a bit. Spray one light dusting coat then apply 3-4 medium to heavy coats from about 6-9" away for best appearance and durability (that is what works for me)

Mine looked rough like that when I started, but it smoothed itself out as it dried. I have a bit of texture on it as it sits (did 7-8 coats). Did mine late last fall and it's all still perfect. I'd say go to town with it. If ya don't like it, peel it off and start over -

I actually just did my limited C-pillar and rear badging yesterday. Kind of a pain in the ass. My emblems didnt come out textured like yours. After each coat was sprayed (4 total coats) it smoothed out as it dried. Give it another thick coating and see if it smoothes out

I used 2 cans to do my Limited flares + side panels + all badges. Used a 3rd can to do my lower valance, grille, rear license panel, & rear bumper trim piece. 3-4 good coats.

I've also dipped my wheels, (twice) ultimately used real paint for my 3-spoke stockers (2 cans). My wheels always peeled after a while, but held up for a good minute.

There will be a slight texture, but I like it...
