Plasti dip questions, rim concerns

Hello everyone I am planning on plasti dipping my wheels tomorrow, I cleaned them today and am letting them air out over night but here is my concern (I have a 97 4runner) ,I just got my 4runner a little while ago from a family member and everything on it is great but the rims just seem very "neglected" after using Armorall and a scrub brush I managed to get most of the gunk off of them but there still is a decent amount of "something" left on them that just wont scrub off and I don't want it to affect the plasti dip being put on them, here are some pictures to give you a better idea of what I am trying to say. If you have and suggestion, or comments it would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Scrub them down with a red scotchbright pad to get them cleaned up. Why Plastidip, why not primer then spray paint?

If you're doing Plasti-dip then just clean and spray. You'll be fine with the little stuff and it may show a bit, but nothing major.

the "something" on the rims is oxidation under the clear coating. i second what jamess said. scrotchbright them. personally i would spend a little time with a whire wheel and get them all nice and cleaned up then primer them and paint them with high temp or appliance paint.

haha that made my night, I will try to scrub it. I am not painting because I am getting new wheels any way next pay check I have always wanted to try plasti dip

Here's how it turned out, I am very happy with the results, spent a good amount of time on them so they would come out nice. I used about two cans on all four of the wheels, I think it came out to be five to seven coats each wheel (something around there). I will post a full picture in a little bit.

Did you tape/bag/block off the tires when you painted your wheels?

Not the tires but everything behind the rims were blocked off w/tape and bags, the plasti dip peels right off the tires.

Also in relation to the topic I wanted to know if I did this correctly because it's on and looks good but when I looked close to it, it seemed fuzzy (if you want to say that), does that mean it is peeling or just drying? thanks!

Nice job, I ended up plasti-dipping my rims last night since I had some extra time. Sometimes they end up "fuzzy" if there is a good amount of wind, not enough drying time or too many thin coats.

How mine ended up.

Thanks! Nice job yourself. I'm probably going to go over them with some spray paint to harden them up, but I'm happy for now.

Also with the "fuzziness" is it alright if I leave it as is or should I peel off the plasti dip and do it over again? It looks fine but just concerns me.
