I did my front symbol last night and rear's tonight. Taping everything off takes most of the time. Before taping off I just wiped everything down with some simple green and a damp wash cloth (trucks dirty from recent snow/salt), then dried it with a heat gun. I found using a heat gun in between coats really speeds up the drying time. Directions say wait 30 minutes between coats but with a heat gun you can pretty much do one coat after another. Plus I think it prevents any runs in the paint because it doesn't get time to run, if you put some low heat on it right after you spray it begins to dry immediately and practically self levels. Total time approx 2 hours per night.
It was dark in my garage when I took the pics so they're not that good, but it should give you an idea:
I always see people talking about plasti dipping things on their runners....I'm still oblivious to what plasti dip is. I cant find any threads on how to plasti dip. Can someone tell me how to? does it come in a can? do you brush it on? where do you buy it? anything else you can tell me would be great. I want to plasti dip my front grill and possibly emblems.....
Just some advice:
I have plastidipped my flares, bumper, and mudflaps.
The stuff gets stained. Every cleaner in the world wouldn't make these things clean again. I had to peel my stuff all the way and I have to redo it all, except, this time, I will clear coat with Krylon flat clear to give it that protection from bullshiit staining.
i just did mines last week i sprayed 6 coats on each emblem and it came out nice, just wondering if anyone on here has a limited and sprayed their fenders, cladding and bumbers with plasit dip? thinking about doing mines to make it look a lil different
