OK, so after reading COB's build thread I decided it was time to clean up my truck a little bit. I plasti dipped my trim fast. I cleaned everything with denatured alcohol and hit it with the plastidip.

What I learned:
-It takes more than a half hour to cure when its 30 degrees out.
-You need to keep the paint quite warm or it sprays in clumps
-It peels quite easily when you want it to

Anyway, as you can probably already assume, I had a couple mishaps, but I am overall pleased with the results because my trim was quite faded. I plan to re-do it in the spring when its warmer. Also, please ignore my rear bumper with the half-assed spray paint. Gotta sand it down and hit it with a couple more coats. Chrome is a PITA to paint even after you sand it.

Looks good, it took almost no time to dry here in ridgefield and i sprayed it on top of snow. Looking good, lemme know if you wanna ditch your trim.

lol i did it at 1am, my hands were freezing, i can't believe it came out looking good.

What type of prep did you do on the trim? Just wash/dry? Did you remove it, or do it in place? How is it holding up in the front? Any rock chips?

Might be a stupid question but do they make plastidip in any other colors? Thinking about doing my wheels but want them gunmetal.

I've played around with a can, so I think I can offer some know how.

Keep it warm, in the 50 - 70 range, or its not gonna spray well.

When you stop and start again after a 5 min. break, spray some outside to break up whats settled, then start your application.

If you dont have a heat gun, go get one. It only costs about $10-15 and its gonna cut down on dry time, big time, and it might help you out if you start to get a run. Don't try out the gun for the first time when you need it, play around with it to see how hot it gets, then use it when you start laying down your applications.

Spray so PD down, stay back 16" and hit it with the gun, constantly keeping it moving. It will cut the drying time significantly. 30 min, turns into 5 mins. It will start to dry in about 45 seconeds. its plastic, it reacts to heat. When the Pd flashes from shiny to flat, its almost dry. Just lightly "air" it, and you'll see when it dries.

They do make other colors, but only a few. Yellow, white, red, clear, blue, and black. I've only seen black in stores.

Same thing happened to me.

I had to peel it all off last week, then redo with 5 coats, and to prevent smudging and for easy cleanup, I used Krylon flat clear (2 coats).

Looking better, seems to be holding up a lot better. When I was using a grinder on something while installing my CBI, though, some sparks caught my right rear flare and I have to redo that one again.

Still, I'm gonna see how it holds up regardless. If I have to redo it, well, still beats looking old and weathered. Learning from mistakes works. We'll get it right!

Here is mine just bare flares... even after a few treatments with back to black. They're still clearly weathered.

I did my emblems yesterday and it is a PITA. It's so hard to get remove the extra between the letters.
