Plate Front Bumper Spacing Question

So I have seen the discussion about the rear bumpers, but need advice for the front. I am building a plate bumper for my 97. How much clearance do most have from the body to account for flex. In the rear I see people talking about 1" +/- to account for the lose body mounts. In anyone's experience, is the front as flexy or can I get this thing nice and tight? I have about 1" right now but I think looks wise, it's a bit much. Before I redu my brackets and use more steel I wanted to make sure I didn't go too tight. Thanks guys and gals!

Most aftermarkets I seen are damn near touching or 1/4" like stated. Never seen even 1/2" space unless running body lift.

Well that settles that question!! I'll post pics in a bumper thread when I am ready, probably tomorrow. Thanks again guys!!!

I have about 3/8" on my front bumper and 5/8" on the back.
The front doesn't seem to touch when fully flexed. The rear? I have two small crush spots from contact.

I have heard that the pre 2000 had firmer rear body mounts.

Mojave ,when everyone was chiming in about a 1/4 inch i went and looked at mine if i were a betting man i would say its more like 3/8 to 1/2 with a nice even reveal .1/4 inch sounds pretty darn tight
