I have a lifted 4th gen (2006) 4runner for 8 years now. It already paid off and I will hand it to my son in 6 months to a year. I was thinking about getting a car after I my son take over the 4runner.

I was at the parking lot today and parked in front of a 2014 limited, silver 4runner. I sat in my car for 15-20 min and stared at it without blinking of an eye. It made my 4th gen look old and out of date. I was one of the 5th gen owner who criticized the 4th gen when it just came out. Even more for the 2014.

I have a lot of thinking and money saving to do now. I plan to get a GS350 F in 3 years but 2016 4runner looks very darn good to me and money saving too.

I just traded my lifted 03 V8 4runner in on a 14 Limited. I like all the modern features on the 14 (memory seats, keyless ignition, navigation etc. modern dash) but if you could drive each one back to back only looking through the windshield and not seeing the vehicle they feel pretty much the same on the road. My biggest disappointment by far is the V6 in the 14 lacking low end torque. It just is not snappy of the line like my 03 was but runs fine once it gets moving. My driveway is really steep and when I take of on it from a stop in the 14 I keep thinking it must be starting in 2nd gear even though it is not. My old V8 would just set you back in the seat taking off on the driveway and sounded very nice doing it. My 14 looks very nice to me except from the rear, but I also liked the look of my 03 very much also. When my 03 was stock the V8 got about the same gas mileage as my 14 is getting so no real advantage there.

A 2014 4runner made your 06 look outdated? No kidding given the 4th gen design is over 10 years old. I luv all the 4runners. There is something to be said with less computerized gadgets in a vehicle as they can have problems.
I luv the 5th gens. The front end refresh on the sr5 and trail is nice. The limited is ugly as it looks like it has braces.the interior is amazing too. I buy the 4runner for reliability and the truck frame.
I have a 08 w/76k miles and will buy a used 5th gen in another 5 years most likely.
I hope the 6th grin is a full frame vehicle.

Forgive me...I am brand new to the forum. So if i screw this up I apologize. I just traded my 2010 limited in on a 2014 Trail edition premium. I did not like the front end for awhile, but they grew on me and just HAD to have one. The dealership put on my lift and tires and now it just looks MEAN.....in my opinion. for the price of a new GS350 F, you could look into a GX460 the upgraded version of the 4runner.

I was in the same boat, GS350 AWD or 4Runner and trading in a 2010 Subaru legacy.

I loved the subie in the winter time, but the low clearance and lack of off pavement ability got me in the end. i gave up the GS350 (couldn't deal and lack of lexus dealers in my state for lexus ext warranty work) in the end and went with a 4runner. minor nit picks on the 2014 but 99% happy with going with the 4runner.

I was in a similar situation. We had a 4Gen since 2004 and when the 5Gen came out I looked at it but didn't like it and decided to keep the 4Gen. This year though, when it was time to get into a new vehicle I looked at the 5Gen again and it grew on me. We ended up trading in our 4Gen for a 2013 Limited and we love it. Having said that.... I really don't like how the refreshed 5Gen looks and that's the reason we bought a 2013. But maybe in 5 years the refreshed 5Gen will grow on me too
