Please help 2/1 vs 3/2

I am putting a lift on next weekend and am looking for some advice on size.

my tire size is 265/70/17

who would suggest the 3/2 vs the 2/1?

I am leaning towards the 3/2 in the case i want to upsize the tires later, but think the initial look of the 2/1 with the current tire size would look better.

any input is greatly appreciated.

I had 2/1 for few months (looks good w/ stock tires) and then 3/2 for less than a week and now donahoe...

If you're planning on getting just spacer lift, I would get 3/2.

If you're trying to fit 285 70 17 w/ 3/2...there is going to be tons of rubbing.
265 70 17 or 275's are perfect for the 3/2..btw..i have it for sale on classified section if you're still looking.

With a 3/2 and going up to 285's you will need to start trimming.

I like the Nitto's , I may have to try them next. I have about 4 different tires I'm debating for the next ones.....lol

Im like the blackwall tires , I just swapped my tires from white letters out to blackwalls out. I love how it look's , gives it a better appearance for my taste.

Thanks for the input. I still cant make up my mind now in even getting a spacer lift. I dont really want to give up any of the comfort of my ride, but also dont want to swap out XREAS just yet.

I know that when my XREAS is around 60k (halfway there) i will likely need to think about changig it out and at that time i will go with new coilovers, etc. Just wondering why i would spend the money now and again later.

If my Xreas was bad I yank the hole crap out and do coil overs.

It really depends what look you after , a nice stance that looks good with your tires or something thats higher .

What look is it exactly that your trying to get , a proportionate or higher the better with bigger tires. or just a nice looking truck.

I personally would just level it . Thats just me . It looks awesome the way it is .

What are you after ? off road ability ? looks ?

its more the looks i am going for, thats why its hard to give up ride comfort for vanity. I also like the way it looks now though i would prefer to resolve the forward rake a bit and a little more height. A shop owner owes me a bit of a favor so i can pretty much pay for the kit and $50 bucks for an install.

I want looks to but I'm just going to get away from the rake look with a 1" leveling kit. It would be great to have a 2/1 or a 3/2 lift , but I don't want to give up handling , safety , reliability issues , warranty issues , gas milage ect...for my daily driver that I want to last me a while not to mention the trade in value of a lifted truck (unless you take it all off) but with the 1" leveling kit you could slide that by a dealer without a problem.

With running 265/70 you already have a 1/2" of lift with tires . Don't get me wrong I would love a lift and 285's , but its not worth it to me. I just drive to much and honestly with the 4R's off road ability It has got me through , up and over stuff with just bigger AT tires on it. Granted no Moab rock climber , but I remember what I went through with my little S-10 Blazer with a set of BFG AT tires , and that has nothing on a 4R ers capabilities.

Just my thoughts.....
I was hoping to take a crack at the lift this week , but the 90+ degree heat and high humidity is putting that on the side for now.

The miracle of photoshop makes me want the spacers. This is what i would believe the 3/2 would do to my truck

My cousin has the spacer lift on his 05 SE. Handling feels just like stock... Lot of people mention that it's alot stiffer, handling is not that great, gas mileage decrease... honestly, it feels exactly the same.
The only thing you will probably notice is the rear got alittle firmer going over bumps, but that's pretty much it..
On my truck, I wanted the lift just for look also...I rarely go offroading.
The only reason I ended up going with donahoe was because the 285 bfg tire I got for free was too big and had too much rubbing, I needed the extra .5" lift.
If I were going to run 265 70 17...I would of kept the 3/2.

Mac , nice link & some great pics. Looks a little goofy with the little 265/65 tires .

IMO these truck need's 265/70's with or without a lift. That little 1" makes such a difference in looks .

One of my concerns with the CF kit is off roading. I read some say its not a good thing. I dont know if there is truth to that.

You could also try just doing a 1" lit in the front.

Here is how I played with it. Floor jack I lifted it 1" at the fender lip to see how it would look.

Then I did a 2"f & 1"r buy using the same method on the front and going up another add'l inch and using the factory bottle jack on my rear hitch plate.

Gave me a good perspective simulated perspective.

I personally would not go to a 3/2 , unless you are going to upsize to a 285 tire. Just my 02. Why stress the drive line anymore if your running the same size tires which you already run on your stock truck .

I personally want a 1" rake left when all is said and done. Not really a fan of the perfectly level look , with the stuff I haul in the back and the times I pull a trailer.

That the reason I'm so anal about lifts , just want it perfect as I can get it. Don't want to do it twice .

Falls - I've wheeled with my current set-up, a daystar front-end only lift, and the cornfed 3/2. Both the spacer kits performed well off-road. A spacer kit is pretty much a spacer kit it adds a little clearance and enhances the Runner's off-road ability, ie. you won't get hung up as often. For the average user who wheels occasionally spacers are a great, cost effective tool especially if you do not want to give up Xreas. Personally, if I had to do it all over again I would have gone with an entire OME lift from the start. I think it hits the sweet spot between functionality and cost, kinda like the 4Runner. :D

YMMV

I decided to pass on the spacers. I just like my ride too much and will kick myself for not just doin a full OME lift. I am going to wait a bit and when XREAS has severed its time, its coming out. In the mean time looks like the trails will only be run by the Jeep

Falls, do you have the pictures of your test. I would love to see them.

You should just put a 1" front level kit in it for the time being , cheap , better looks , a little more clearance .

My truck is leased , but will have to buy it out at the end anyway , so I do what mods I want , hopefully nothing that will do any damage.

I have about 3-2 right now with my coilovers, and rear springs. I still have 265 70 17 tires since they are still good. Here is the picture. The tires look ok, but bigger would look alot better. I have raised the front a bit since this picture.
