I have a 08 Urban Runner with almost 3000 miles on it. its the second time i noticed it. when i drive it on the freeway. for anywhere from 20 minutes or more. ill stop and go back to rear rear and i smell kind of like a burnt oil smell. does anyone know what this could be? is it just cause its new and its burning something off? does anyone know what this could be?

im in the same about 08 with around 3000 miles on it. i smell it too, but not as frequent as it sounds like you do. only if ive been driving real tough or in the heat. yes its still fairly hot here.

If you are still in the first few thousand miles it could just be that you are being rough (having too much fun) while you should be gentle to the engine (break-in). If it is still there much longer (after 5k maybe) then have someone look at your tail pipe from outside the car (vehicle running) when you experience this...is there any smoke, white, grey...etc? You could have an oil leak. Shouldn't happen with a new vehicle...but it's always possible that a gasket/seal was defective. I have a 07 with 17k+ and haven't ever had that issue myself but maybe someone else out there has had a similar issue fixed???

One thing you can always try is to change the fuel you purchase. It is common for many people to blame the fuel the buy. Most of the time it

i will try the whole fuel thing. as for being the heat or running it hard. i know it wasnt either. i was doing 80 both times and it was about 40 degrees outside. but you never know. ill keep watching it.

Higher RMPs will burn more oil...especially on an engine that isn't totally seated in yet. So that's one possibility.

You also might look for the possibility that a little grease from the drive shaft slip yokes might be slinging onto the exhaust and burning off.

I bought mine used with about 29k on it and noticed that the first couple times I drove mine as well. No clue what it was, but it should go away. New vehicle, a lot of coatings for the oos and awws at the dealer to make it look new. I'd let it go a little bit further and pay attention to it. Notice I said a little...
