For other trucks not included in the ones above, for the same price you will just need to remove two wires from the factory harness (they slide in and out easily once you remove the retaining clip) and then insert those two wires into the new supplied plug.

Tutorial

After looking at my 2010, what has to be removed to access this plug and play doogel.? Is it accessible by hand and reaching or does something have to be removed to gain access? Thanks for your help with this. Brad

You will have to at least partially pull out the radio to access the back. Its not a hard job though.

Here is the install process...

1. First pull the HVAC trim pieces off. This is done by grabbing the trim and pulling straight back toward you.

2. Next remove the HVAC control assembly. To remove just pull it straight out towards you like you did with the trim. Don't pull by the knobs to reduce the risk of damaging them.

3. Before completely removing the HVAC control assembly you need to remove the wire. Unplug the plug shown below and remove the wire retaining clip.

4. Now to remove the Navigation unit you first need to remove the 4 10mm bolts shown in the picture below. Once the bolts are removed the entire unit (vents and hazard switch and all) will pull out like the HVAC trim and controller did. Pull from the top near the compass display from both sides. The unit will snap out and then you can either completely remove it (not necessary) or rest it on top of the shift lever.

5. Next find and unplug the grey 5 pin (4 wires) connector. Once the connector is unplugged, plug the dongle into the navigation unit then plug the grey factory plug into the dongle.

At this point you are done. You just need to run the red and blue wires on the dongle to a switch of your liking. The blue wire is the 12v volt feed to the switch and the red wire will feed 12v to the navigation unit and turn the camera on.

To reinstall everything, follow the steps above in the reverse order.

Waiting on a few more parts to test. It works the same way as the older models, just different connectors. The connectors have proven difficult to find at a reasonable cost... I am waiting on one last sample and should have it wrapped up this week then start getting them made the following week is what I am hoping.


For those of you who ordered the 2010-2013 dongles, they shipped yesterday.

Quick update...

Working on the video input and have it working!

My next step is to add my switch to change input sources. I have a 6 position rotary switch which I will use to select all my proposed cameras. Rear, front, left, right, then two more free spots.

More to come on this....


As far as the dongles for the newer trucks, I should have the parts for the complete plug and play dongle within 3 weeks. I will have a ton available at the time as well as the aux input dongle.

Well if you really get going on this, I'd love one (or a set) that will accommodate a second switch-able feed (front camera). So one switch to put it into cam mode and another to switch feeds (2014 SR5 non-JBL)
