How does a 2013 Trail with Entune Nav and no JBL fit in? The nav display is used for reverse. Nothing on the rearview mirror. Thanks

Stupid question -- I assume the radio will still work when you switch to rearview camera or aux video? I figure, but just making sure.

Quick update...

Working on the video input and have it working!

My next step is to add my switch to change input sources. I have a 6 position rotary switch which I will use to select all my proposed cameras. Rear, front, left, right, then two more free spots.

More to come on this....


As far as the dongles for the newer trucks, I should have the parts for the complete plug and play dongle within 3 weeks. I will have a ton available at the time as well as the aux input dongle.

I'll go order the setup now, and would like to know asap when the video setup is available as I have a front tow hitch for maneuvering trailers around and that would be handy to have a camera up there! Also to see past that enormous hood when wheeling..

Yes, mine it tapped into the rear camera feed. I am waiting for an order of parts from overseas to come in. Once I get it, all options for all models will be available.

this is freaking awesome. I really want to add a front camera, so when the nose is up offroad i can see whats i am about to traverse. Are you going to put a kit together with a camera? Im not really versed in video work, but i would love the ability to cycle between the front camera and the rear one at the press of a button.

Why would someone want to cut into wires when a dongle will obviously do the same thing and at any point be returned to OEM status.

This mod is for the 2014+, the one bjohnston115 makes is only for the older models. Did I miss where there is a dongle available for the newer models or do you just have Beef with copythat? I read back through bjohnston115's thread and he says the dongle is not avail for the 2014+ because of the cost of the plugs. I'm a little confused why you are so angry about his post for the newer models.

This is great everyone! Hopefully I can help you all in a timely fashion. I will have another update posted this evening with more details regarding the later model dongles. Waiting on a few more parts to test. It works the same way as the older models, just different connectors. The connectors have proven difficult to find at a reasonable cost... I am waiting on one last sample and should have it wrapped up this week then start getting them made the following week is what I am hoping.

Not so sure what you are so upset about. Copythat showed us how to do a mod, that's what the site is all about. You asked why anyone would cut wires when a dongle (that does not even exist) will work..... Well, it's because there is no dongle yet. So for the people that do not want to wait, or for people who don't mind doing more in depth mods, this is perfect.

You posted post #55 above, notice where he says he cannot find the plugs at a reasonable cost.....? He also mentioned someplace else about the plug costing far more than the older models (could have been a PM) so you answered your own question there.

Im not trying to get you worked up, I though I missed something. You really came across very upset that a member posted a mod where the particular mod had not been done yet. You Said he was late to the game and a dongle will serve the same function..but.... he not only posted a new mod write up but there is no dongle to speak of, so I did not see the point in you being so negative to any member trying to help other members with a new mod. If you think it's a bad idea because there is a "possibility" of a dongle in the future, I get it. But some of us don't want to sit and hope for something to come along. If that were the SOP, about 200 members would be holding out for a v8 2025 4Runner (myself included) lol.

I truly just thought I missed something and either there was a dongle for the new models or copythat is an ahole.
