PNW crabbing

Well crabbing season just opened up and I have gone 2 times and got some both times. The only bad thing is after I am done I have to bag all my gear up so the smell from the Puget sound doesn't destroy my T4R.
Does anyone else go crabbing or do the same thing I do ?
Also if anyone want's to go crabbing in the south sound or even north lets meet up and go.

The rope is what seems to hold the water the most. After I pull my pots for the last time of the day/trip I dump the extra bait overboard and then rinse my pots back off. Once on land I load my pots last. They are usually some what dry by then. I store my rope and buoys in a 7gallon bucket, 5 gallon would works as well. That way it's only the pots that aren't protected and they seem to hold the least amount of water vs all the other equipment.

As for bait it's hard to go wrong with either salmon or chicken. Incoming tide usually fish better and I try and find an area with little sonar activity. That seems to stop the crab from feeding. I primarily crab in hood canal so we have Bangor Sub base and when they are under way all the fishing stops dead. Small price to pay for national security.

Well I live down in Kent now I use to be stationed in Whidbey Island and I would go down to Deception Pass and get crab all the time. I don't have boat so I am dock crabbing now but I do want to get up towards the north end for crabbing.
