PNWRunner's Build Thread

Another shot of it all put together

And a shot of me trying to use the wheeler to try and pull my bumper over to its correct spot, unsuccessfully. Almost got the tires off the ground though, its pretty solid.

Finally did the grey wire mod today. Works great and now I have full control over my e-locker. Also changed out a worn out rear LCA

Thought I busted my LBJ today, but turns out I de-threaded one of my swaybar endlinks up front. Made a crazy loud noise, and now is perfect time to install my wheelers poly SB bushings! Dont mind my attempt at the ol duct tape CV boot...

Went to visit the parents on the other side of the state today, finally got to flex it out and make sure it doesnt rub on the body anymore. Looks like I need longer shocks now.

Did some light wheeling today on my way to a secret fishing spot. Also got my 9 wraps but bought another project before I could install them. I'm currently using my shocks as bump stops right now, they probably wont last long that way so I will wait until my LC shocks come in before I throw the 9 wraps on. The added travel is much needed.

And heres my new CL find I just couldn't pass up for the price, my "new" 1973 CJ5. Boo jeeps I know but I love the 304 V8 and the short wheel base. Its going to be the new hunting rig I guess. The wiring is a mess and the undercarriage could use some work, but it will get me to stop dumping money into my DD 4Runner.

Just put an order in for Light Racing UCA's. Bought those in order to clear 315/75r16 Yokohama MT's which will be coming shortly after.

Relocated my washer fluid reservoir to clear some room for incoming 35's

And sold the GF's DD for something a bit more practical, an Audi a4

Going to pick up some spindles, manual hubs, and axles from a 97 Tacoma on monday. Manual hub swap on the way!

Sold my CJ5 yesterday. Tried the jeep thing again, still didnt like it.

Now that the heep and the wheeler are gone, its time to get my UCAs on to make room for 35's. I abandoned my manual trans swap to keep multi-mode for lots of on/off melted, bare road, and hardpack snow during long winter trips. Manual hubs are still in the works.

Nice rig man. Very cool how you brought it back from the dead w/the new engine and built it up into capable machine. I'm running a CBI rear as well and ordered it for no body lift, but I wondered what the gap would look like if I ever put one on, so your pics helped w/that.

Good work on the windshield washer reservior relocation, I'm sure that got the wheels turning for alot of people, myself included.

:bravo::bravo::bravo:Lemme know when you wanna come do those UCAs budday.

Your 4Runner looks great man. Awesome resurrection. I'm loving the bumpers. I had no clue about the washer reservoir being in the way of 35's. I'll have to look at mine later. I can't say I've ever had a problem with it, then again I have a larger body lift. Looking forward to the bigger tires!

Finally got my Light Racing UCA's in today. First side took about 3 hours due to a busted rental BJ press from Oreilly's, so we ended up cutting and notching the ball joint until we could pound/press it out.

The other side went alot smoother and alot quicker, busted it out in 50 minutes. Going in for an alignment tomorrow morning and advancing my caster 2 degrees. 35's here I come!

So I got my alignment today... the tech got the advanced caster down right, im between 4.0° and 4.3° like I asked. He must have gotten confused when I told him to pull the spindle out as far as possible. I picked up my truck to find the adjustments made with the spindle pushed in like this:

Now correct me if im wrong but I need them pulled out as far as possible to clear 35's without rubbing on the UCA, even though this one has alot less contact area. Heres a shot from the front with 285's now:

Has anyone ran 35's with a setting close to this? I guess its a good thing I have a lifetime alignment.

315's on! Sorry for the terrible pictures.

Got a used set (40-50% tread) of original Goodyear MTR's from my buddy Noynumal. Ill be using these to weigh the pros and cons of 35's before I decide on my next tire purchase. So far on the road im stoked. I finally got out of my E rated Duratracs and dont feel like my tires are working against me anymore. The steering wheel doesnt wiggle around in my hand over bumps and I no longer have to avoid potholes. The cons are obviously gas mileage and wear on the vehicle, but they are to be determined.

A tiny bit of frame love on full lock as expected, but who needs full steering range anyways? :bigok: Better pictures coming soon.

Looks awesome. Remind me what size your old Duratracs were? I can't wait to ditch my E load BFG's.
