PNWRunner's Build Thread

Looks good! I really want to get a set of UCA's and will most likely get LR UCA's. I agree about the E rated tires, they ride horrible on 4runners.

Installed my 851's today. A little bit taller than expected. The distance between the wheel and fender is 10.5 inches passenger and right under 11 on the driver. I hope they settle a bit or ill have to go in and take the cones out. They sure do ride better than my sloppy 9 wraps. Need adjustable LCA's now

How did you get it to sit pretty level? I've got 861's with Toytec coil overs up front turned quite a ways up and still have pretty noticeable rake. Is it just the angle of the pic?

you can get them in the nittos...

I said "almost impossible". If im not mistaken only the trail graps arent E rated, and most people want something a bit more aggressive.

I do have noticeable rake, about 1.5 inches higher in the rear. Its not too bad but I think the picture is pretty accurate

PNWRunner I was looking at your sig - are you running the visionx rock lights? If so, how are you liking them? I'm thinking of grabbing a set rather than putting those 55w tractor lights in. More in regards to how much power the tractor lights draw. Anyway, are the visions lights too much of a spotlight rather than a flood?

Oops.... edit... just realized you're running the headlights lol... disregard. Truck looks sick man!!

Thanks guys. My front coils aren't set all that high, Ive got them set just a bit higher than halfway up. If I go any higher it feels stiff and wobbly off road.

Heres a better picture to judge the rake, and you can where I rubbed the powdercoat off my CBI while hugging a tree new years day.

I see what you've done there Cody....

I did rub a bit. Ive gotta roll the lip on the rear wheel well and get the pinch weld in the front. The front isnt as bad because of my positive caster, but without limiting straps or bump stops in the rear I was eating the tires.

Messed around a little today to try and get measurements for limiting straps. The weather was pretty nasty so I didn't go up to the mountains as planned and instead went to an old pit bike course near where I grew up.

My attempt at IFS flex, the pinch weld really got some love on this one.

First time out with the 851's which did really well. I need to get a new shock situation figured out though.

Really good looking 4runner man. How much have you already trimmed your pinch welds and how did you do it?

Thanks,
Nate

Thanks! I haven't done any trimming yet, but only because I was able to advance my caster to ~3.5 degrees with my Light Racing UCA's. Advancing the caster moves the wheel forward a bit, keeping it away from the pinch weld. If I was to turn the wheel with it stuffed I would shred the tire for sure, so trimming is still very necessary.

I have the LR arms also, i have been trying to find out how to adjust them for more firewall clearance! So you actually added more caster into the top adjustment plate? What "letter" setting did you put yours to, to get maximum clearance? Thanks for your help.

Nate

Correct. Youll want to loosen that top nut and rotate the balljoint forward in the star retainer. Thats about the best way I can describe it, but once you get the nut off I think youll know what im talking about.

I started sound deadening tonight... Im not sure I knew what I was getting myself into, but its too late now. Im using B-Quiet which is fairly cheap ($100 shipped for 50 square feet).

First up is the trunk to see if I can quiet down the exhaust. The stuff is fairly sticky and will adhere to just about anything if you push on it hard enough. I used the butt of a screw driver to get it to lay in all the grooves and it worked fairly well, although there's a bit of a learning curve.

I plan to take off the wall plastics to get better coverage, but id like to replace the passenger side plastic since its cracked and will wait until then.

Got the cargo area done today. AWilson told me he noticed the biggest difference from sound deadening the cargo area, so I doubled up on the deadening and also hit the hatch door.

Overall Im pretty happy. The exhaust drone is much less noticeable and rocks pinging in the wheel well are much quieter. Front doors are next!

im gonna be doing this as well, although i think im gonna do the roof as well. im gonna be doing all the doors as im gonna be replacing my speakers with some Infinity Kappas, i have trashed my Alpine speakers so time to upgrade... and with a sub in the back i could use some sound deadening in the back -plus as you say it will help with the exhaust note as well. how much of that stuff do you have left? im just trying to figure out how much im gonna have to buy...
