Poll: Broken lower balljoint

Haha. I want to say op is joking just to get people posing it the thread, but who knows. He also didnt say how many miles were on them. If their 15 years old with 30k miles on them and the boots are intact, I wouldn't worry about changing them for a while. However , with OEM parts already in hand, why not...

I just replaced both of my lowers.

96 replaced w/oem @ 210,000ish miles, about 20,000 after a ss 1.2 lift. They seemed solid and fine, did it for the mileage.

99 replaced w/oem @ 165,000ish miles, stock suspension, left ball joint suddenly started clunking- and we'd just recently checked them. Ball loose and worn iirc....been awhile. We were planning on replacing them and had the new joints and bolts all ready to go. Good plan...

Smart man, replaced the bolts - not sure how people are snapping them but I think I'll change the bolts too.

BTW - is that your snap-on box? KRL722?

No jokes here - I'm scared as hell - I am going to check my lower balljoints every week till I change them.

AND every WEEK AFTER TOO!!!!!

I just replaced mine yesterday...my T4R only has 93K miles, but it is 18 years old so I thought the peace of mind was well worth the $$. I used only OEM parts for everything - LBJs, castle nuts, and bolts.

The old LBJs looked OK and may have been perfectly fine....but I didn't want to take any chances. It was getting to the point that I was sort of freaking out when I hit a large bump and wondering if the ball joint was going to go.

I feel much better now about it
