I was back and forth on the warranty. I have owned Toyota’s for along time. Have never takin a extended warranty. My wife thinks I should not have takin this one. I took the Toyota premium thru Toyota. 10 years 100000 miles. Deceision factors I don’t plan on getting rid of my 2017 Pro. I don’t plan on modding it. I did al that to my 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport. Removed all my mods and sold them. I like how the Pro looks without doing anything to it. Something goes wrong don’t have to deal with issues with the dealership with mods added. Another did not have to put much money out for my Pro so I chosed the piece of mind route.

I'm in a similar situation. I'll probably keep the vehicle for 10 years or more and with KDSS and the sophisticated 4WD & electronics I'm wrestling with the idea of just paying the piper and opting for peace of mind. (Which is precisely why I wanted to reach out to the other members here via the thread.)

Yeah I know Toyota’s are really reliable but thinking after the 3 years 36000miles if something does go wrong it won’t be cheap to fix. That’s why I went with the premium warranty covers everything. And if I did decide to trade in on another Toyota it is transferable. You read about other issues going out on vehicles right after the warranty then your like wishing you would have takin the extended. I’m not regretting that I took the extended warranty. I hope this helps.

I switched from Volkswagen product to 4Runner, just to make sure I don’t have to worry about buying warrentee...

After my A4 45000km not mile, cyc 1 mis Fire need new engine/ S4 57000km need a new tranny/ Sirocco 45000km need a tranny rebuild... repairing anything below 3k is very cheap, it’s okey to do it every 7 years... lolol

~58% have not.

Of the ~42% that have it, approximately 11.5% have had a need to use the policy.


(Of course, we have no way of determining how long those who have responded have owned their policy, nor how many of those will need to use it before its expiration.)

Mine is right at this moment paying for an ABS speed sensor, 4wd actuator, and rear liftgate struts. I negotiated the selling dealership pretty far down on it, so I expect even with just a couple of services over its 7 year term it will probably pay for itself.

Extended mine to 4 years, 125K miles. I drive a lot. I had to use it to replace the rear lock actuator on the lift gate roughly 18 months ago. The vehicle is currently 2 1/2 years old with 80K miles on the clock. All in all, I'd rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Interesting poll. I just got the 20K service flyer in the mail yesterday and included was an offer for a 2 year extension of ToyotaCare for $329.00. Not sure if it is worth it since I'm getting a decent amount of mileage early on in the life of my Runner (over 18K in 5 months). Curious to see what others with the high mileage/young vehicle combo have done.

Bought mine end of June 2017 and just hit the 20k mark. Didn't get the extended warranty. I don't think I'll opt for the extension either.

Yep yep. We are in the same boat. I'm at 23K right and closing in on 8 months of ownership. I'll pass on the extension but will keep to the recommend maintenance schedule.
