Poll: What color looks best on the 4Runner?

Alrighty then, good start, being more clear in the beginning and then you don’t end up with 20 posts about exactly what you aren’t looking for.

This is the Gen5 thread ... right??? Yea, OP didn't specify 5th Gen ... but ... maybe that should be understood.

Right... cus people never post general questions in the 5th gen forum. OP asked a general question... and just so happens I saw a custom imperial jade 5th gen posted the other day. Anyway, now that I understand what the OP is actually looking for...

Magnetic gray metallic. I went to the lot wanting a silver 4runner but when I saw the magnetic gray metlic my heart fluttered and I knew I had to take her home. 2019 Limited.

I've had 3 different 4runners, and 3 different colors. So....ANY DAMN COLOR YOU LIKE!!! Cause it's your baby, and no one else's. Sorry, another weird medical day. Kind of awnry. :rockthrow:

I really like the Magnetic Gray, but wish there was a bright red. A red similar to the FJ Radiant Red.

I like Mag Gray as do many others but I had a gray 03 4Runner and the same color 06 Tundra. Needed a change after 16 years and live in a hot climate, so for a lighter color I went with silver since I see white 4Runners everywhere. I know red is popular for cars in general, but it is the one color car I can't stand. Don't know why, just never liked them.

BUT I can say the white hides pin-stripping pretty well (with DIY synthetic wax). I had a blue vehicle previously and learned my lesson.

1. Scars earned in battle will not be held against contestants.

2. Taste is highly subjective. I’m a fan of chromatic colors like red and blue. The market seems to prefer non-chromatic “colors”: white, silver, MGM, and black.

Spent the last decade in a midnight blue vehicle. Looking to go Barcelona Red on a 2020 T4R. Not really seeking validation.

I’ve noticed over the years it seems like Toyota feels that the answer to your question is a Barcelona Red Off-Road. If you look at the brochures and advertising since the 2014 refresh, Toyota has used this trim and color A LOT in its advertising. A red Trail/Off-Road has been the brochure cover photo every year since 2014. Shortly after the 2014 update, Toyota ran a "Keep It Wild" ad campaign that featured a Barcelona Red Trail. If you go to Toyota's website right now and choose 4Runner, there is a video at the top which features a Barcelona Red Off-Road. You can find Barcelona Red 4Rs all over the place in Toyota ads.

So, it looks like Toyota sees the Barcelona Red Off-Road as the quintessential 4Runner look.


But if the OR trim isn't your thing, I think it largely depends on which trim you’re considering. The different bumper colors, grills, and wheels make a big difference. Here are my thoughts:

SR5: silver or gray. Both of these colors tend to hide/compliment the more basic looks of SR5.

Off-Road: red or white. They both show off the vehicles lines and nicely complement the silver front and rear bumper trim.

Limited: white. The Limited is going for a fancier look and the white compliments the chrome.

Limited Nightshade: gray. Looks badass. Probably the best Limited combo/look of all.

Pro: white. The white is a great contrast to all the black pieces and wheels. Makes for a mean, Storm Trooper look.

All I’m gonna say is, love it or hate it, I’ve gotten nothing but compliments on my new PRO. I live near the beach and it goes well with the area. Taking it out onto the beach next week.
