poor canadian wants a lift!

I really want to lift my 4runner before the summer but I'm running into a lot of headachs, mainly due to living in canada and the lack of part support.

After lots of reading on this forum I had decided to go with the tundra lc lift and bilstien shocks. I can't find the parts anywhere in canada for a reasonable price. LC coils are very hard to find and when I do find them they want 125 for 1. I just got a quote for 320 for the front tundra coils but I would need to have those shipped as well. Plus they are all used parts.

I got a quote from a local toytec dealer for the 3" ome lift and it comes out to around the same price as trying to pc together the tundra/lc lift.

Should I just call it a day and order the ome lift? My concern is that I won't be happy with the ride quality as I have read several peoples comments on this forum saying the same. I can't go ultimate due to my budget, plus I don't see my self taking advantage of the adjustments. I'm interested to know what the majority of you would do new ome or used tundra/lc with no cost difference. Thanks

I wouldn't get those TRD for that price. You could have new for less than that, even with shipping to Canada.

Maybe run bilstein 5100s and eibach coils from ToyTec upfront and OME in the back. Or wait for someone to sell their LC coils and hop on it. Or get on ih8mud and see if someone has some.

Oh yeah I've been trying the forum thing as well. Most people don't want to bother shipping to canada when they can just ship within the US. Even the couple scrap yards I've called don't want to deal with the paper work to ship it across the boarder. I would like to go coil in front but I'm trying to keep the cost down.

What do you mean go coil in the front? You have struts in the front. Yes, you will need a coil. Do you mean coil over? Keeping the price down and going that route isn't going to be easy.

Some guy emailed me from mud saying he had some coils that he wanted to sell me. I will email him back and see what we wants for them and how much shipping to me would be and then see how much it'll be to you.

There should be quite a few 80 owners in Canada on Ih8mud. I guess nobodies upgrading their LC but the paper work to ship to Canada is minimal. It's just a quick sheet to fill out at the USPS and they are on their way.

I was mainly asking is it worth getting used tundra/lc parts for the same price as an ome lift. I'll keep looking for a deal and I'll check i8mud. Let me know if those coils come through, I'll add in a finders fee (Y)

Where are you? I'm in Vancouver and got quoted $265ish for the Tundra TRD springs at a dealer and about $240/260 for the Front 5100s and about $20 bucks less the the rears. Buddy gave me a pair of LC coils so I got lucky.

Is that spring quote from a dealer? That is really $$$$$$!!

Yeah, honestly I've never had any problems getting anything shipped accross the boarder and always at a decent price... after reading your initial post I was thinking you must be up in Yellowknife or somewhere similar

where are you located? I got my LC's and a set of shocks off the same truck from a local c-list guy.. 50 for the coils and 20 for both shocks (replacement needed soon) and then ordered bilstein 5100 and toytec coils for the front. I too was on a budget and this is your best bet however i had my stuff shipped to washington and went across the border.

Will you be installing yourself?

My quote from the dealer was 277 a spring each!! and 235 for an LC coil each!! thats not even including shocks :S

The pice I listed before was from a wreaking yard. Atleast it was a front strut assembly but it has over 200000km. I can't justify spending that much on heavily used parts.


And yes I will be installing everything my self.
