poor gas mileage, 91 toyota 4runner

i have a 91 toyota 4runner with a V6 3.0, 155k miles. im getting 11mpg, it sucks. just changed my 02 sensor, didnt do much, any ideas?

sorry to tell you this but i have the same problem, my machanic found that i have burnt valves, and the headgasket is gone. and that is killing all my gas milage.

I've been chasing an intermittent miss for about the last 6 weeks. This is on a 92 3.0 V-6 with auto tranny and has 185,000 miles. To date I've changed: igniter, coil, TPS and checked the plugs (they are all OK).

Took it by a mechanic friend and scoped the plug wires. They were ALL wayyy over resistance. (cheap wires) I replaced the wires with dealer wires. $$$$$ !!

They 'seem' to have really helped the miss( so far)


I'll keep ya posted on the Miles per Gallon.

This has been covered try a search.

Fuel filter,plugs,tire pressure,air filter, etc. you should be getting closer to 15mpg city/17-20 highway.
