Popping and clunking from wheel/suspension area...

I just bought my first Toyota 4runner, 1994 v6 4x4 with 153,000 miles. Super stoked!

On the drive home I noticed a popping/clunking sound (and feeling through the floor board) on the driver's side front wheel/suspension area.

The noise/feeling is intermintent and was noticeable when just cruising along (I only noticed it on the freeway and was averaging about 70-80 on the freeway.

The popping/clunking (both noises) were not at all affected by hitting bumps (bumps actually had no affect at all on making it happen or stop)

I'm wondering what might be the problem causing this.

Probably going to take the truck into a mechanic tomorrow just for a once over of everything, but hoping to get an idea of what I'm looking at before I get hit up for money for the repairs.

Could be one or more of many bushings is worn out.
Could be a bad CV joint (but if you're in 2WD and hubs unlocked it shouldn't show up).

just got it back from the shop, they said the wheel well shroud thingy the plastic that surrounds the wheel well was loose and needed to be tightened.

I get a similar sound and feeling from my front left wheel, but only when I am making a sharp left turn, particularly if I am braking. I also have a squeak from the same wheel while driving, usually over small bumps, potholes, or shifts in the grade of the road.

Anyone know what could be causing this?
