I am treating some rust areas on my rig prior to getting it painted. Anyone have experience with por15 patch or putty on their cars? Any info or opinions are welcome.

when it comes to rust, unless you remove the cancer it will come back. Now, if its just little surface rust you may get away with POR15 for quite a while but its still there. Although I dont think POR15 is meant to be painted to a nice finish like on a body. If its underside you will b fine.

POR 15 is relatively expansive and will chip. I stop using it long time ago. This stuff works better and less mess to apply:

Corroseal Rust Converter Primer-82320 - The Home Depot

It depends on the severity but as stated above, unless its surface rust, I would cut out and patch with metal. Surface rust you can sand/grind away and just use an rust inhibiting primer. Though POR15 is a good product, used it a lot on my old Jeeps. Just get the right kind, they make different ones for different applications.

Por15 will work on none rusted surface if you use their chemical preps and FALLOW THE DIRECTIONS ! Also works best on a really hot humid day. POR15 cures from humidity
