I bet Jeep engineers are all crying now, considering Jeep's entire campaign for the SRT-8 was slated against the Cayenne Turbo. And no, the SRT-8 can't hit it in 4.8 no matter what any article says. All Jeep states is: "under 5 seconds" which means they ran one sucessful test probably slightly downhill, away from the wind in 4.99999999998 seconds.

I guess you could buy 3 SRT-8's, dismantle all of them, and fabricate a new jeep with 3 axles and 6 wheels with a 6.1L hemi powering each axle...Hmmm, I hope it has A/C.

It has been reported that Porsche announced on 01/10/06 that they would be scaleing back production on their luxury SUV after falling demand and disappointing sales in the US.

One has to wonder just how many of these $111K Cayennes they will actually make.

Priced the same as a new SE 4Runner. Availible in 2WD or AWD w/ no low range. Strictly an on-road SUV like the SRT-8. The TrailBlazer looks good too, but exactly what segement does it and the SRT-8 fall into? Sport Not-So-Utility Vehicles That Can Hold Big Boxes? I'm confused by this. I like my fast 4Runner and all, and it would be great if it could go 0-60 in 5 seconds too, but not being able to take it off-road would defeat the purpose in my opinion.

On another note, I wonder how many of those Cayennes are financed, and how many are paid in, as Randy Moss would say, "Straight cash, homie"? Being a porsche sales person is probably the easiest job in the world. Some dude just walks in, "Uh, yeah I'd like the $111,000 Cayenne in black please" As he whips out the checkbook...

I've got a Porsche dealer within minutes from my house, nice people in their, the salesman do the higher end models for cash but of course their are customers who jump to fast or are trying to keep up with the rest of the neighbors and lease a Turbo Cayenne for 1795 a month:bash:

I thought about it some more and I figured that Porsche must lease a ton of cars just for this reason. Anyone with enough scrap around to lease/own a car worth this much wouldn't be financing and losing $10 grand on the loan, plus the depreciation of the car itself. But I bet I'd be suprised...

Has anyone seen one of these Cayenne's on a dirt road? Any model, even the cheap ones? I hear they were developed along with the VW Touareg. The Touareg has tanked everyone's reliability ratings. I wonder it the Cayenne has kept pace, and tanked it, too? I just can't imagine driving one of these across a gravel parking lot. Driving in the boonies could give a Cayenne owner a stroke. I've got some dents and scrapes in my 03 4Runner, but it's just a 4-door truck with a camper shell. I think these Cayenne's should just be lowered back to earth and called station wagons, which is what they are. I think Dr. Porsche is rolling in his grave.
