Possible brake problem?

On my 2002 sport I notice that the brake pedal seems to travel a good ways before engaging the brakes. I've checked the fluid level, the actual brake pads and tried bleeding air from lines but it doesn't change. The car stops fine but it just seem like you have to move the pedal a long ways (5-6 inches) before you feel any pressure. Does this seem normal? If not, what else is there to check?

When is the last time they have been bled? How many miles do the front pads have on them?

Can't say for sure. I would guess around 15k-20k. I have bled the brakes during last installation.

If you are 100% sure you have all the air out of the system, there is an adjustment on the pedal to bring the free play back into spec.
