Possible issue/ but not an issue

So my truck is making a weird noise and I guess the best way to describe it is that metal rubs against metal when I press on gas or drive. It is not loud if u have the radio up u can't hear it. And when I start up my truck kind of the same sound. I truly don't think anything wrong from riding in Pine Barrens, I just think I wet it to much when washing because when I was trying to get off mud inside wheel weel I just used power wash. So I think it is wet and when it dries should get back to normal. Any suggestions or anyone think it is a problem?

I'm not sure if this is your problem but I have had debris lodge itself between the rotor and the dust shield making a screeching sound when driving.

It seems like it is coming from engine, cause you can hear it when the car stands and when press gas pedal gently, when i rev the engine sounds goes away, but it is the same sound as it is like you describe.
 
Well if it doesn't do it when the wheels are not moving my first thought is a failing bearing. They tend to get progressively louder with time and make a screeching noise.

bearings were changed less then a year ago. the sound is there when driving, it goes away or maybe because the engine is reving more at higher speed it goes away. Thank you for different suggestions.
 
as you probably know, noises are sometimes hard to track down.

You had all bearings changed a year ago?

So the sound is there when driving but only at low speeds, if you are parked while reving the engine there is no noise. Is that correct?

Would you say it's a rhythmic noise?

I think so, it sounds like cold engine or metal rub when standing and pressing the gas slightly, if floored or rev the engine can't hear it. I think something is just still wet or mud got somewhere, cause when i washed, instead of scrubing i used power wash until mud came off, i guess to much water? LOL
 
I'd check the pulleys on the front of the motor. If you got mud or water in there it might be causing a bearing in a pulley to go bad. Not likely but it's a possibility. If you have a stethoscope it will be easier to diagnose but you can use just a metal bar also. I'd start listening to all the pulleys, alternator anything that spinns basically.

You are absolutely right! So I went to my mechanics to check the weird noise my car was making, it is idling pulley that making noise I mested it up when was washing my truck, next time no power wash. Lol
 
So today, my mechanics change the idler pulley and the sound that were there is still there but with much less intensity. Can it be generator or something else. Any suggestion please!
 
The noise is constantly there, when my mechanics changed the idler pulley they make sure the belt was ok and tight, so unless it is another pulley, we were thinking alternator or maybe water pump. So i'm gonna take it to dealer and let them figure out.
Thank you everyone for suggestion, please keep on throwing ideas, because you know how dealers usually try to say everything is ok, unless it is something major and they have to rebuild half of your car. LOL

Alex, driving in the rain, is the water that passes through, i was holding powerwash for extended period underneath engine bay and where my alternator and on the sides where the wheel well for long time.
 
So i drove my truck to the dealer, thinking something was wrong with alternator or water pump, but dealership technician said another pulley is bad. Warranty wouldn't cover the pulley and it would cost $299 OBO, i decline to fix it at dealer and took it back to my mechanics, where it will only cost me 75 dollars OBO.
 
Ok, after switching two pulleys, my truck is back to normal. I had to replace idler pulley and lower middle pulley. Thanks to those who picked their brains to give me ideas what was wrong.
