Possible Newbie What is a good price for a Used 2005?

Hello,
I currently am looking at 2005 Limited V8 4x4 with 30,000 miles. The 4runner has all options inlcuding NAV, 6 Disc Changer, XREAS, F & R Side Airbags, etc... The only thing it may not have is Load Leveling. From what I can tell the 4Runner is in excellent condition and is private party.

My question is should I be concerned about the mileage and should I pay over Blue Book for it? The blue book is between $29,000 and $32,000 for Private Party and Retail.

Hope to be a member soon.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If it was another make, I'd be worry about problems. Since it's a Toyota, I doubt that's why the owner is offloading it. I'm a little curious to why the owner is selling it, a wild guess probably because he puts a lot of miles on it and maybe concerned with the cost of gas. Since it still has the original factory warranty intact, you could always purchase an extended Toyota warranty, like the Platinum warranty for 7yr/100k.

That vehicle new probably stickered for $42-43k. FWIW, my V6 Limited 4WD with similar options was $37,500 before TTL and $1500 rebate.

If you're comfortable with its current condition, it's not a bad deal since the owner took a huge hit on first year depreciation... nice savings for you.

Just bought a 2005 Sport Edition Silver, 4X4, V8, $26,600 w/ onlu 8200mi. Added leather for additional $950. Absolutely LOVE it! Good luck on finding the right one for you.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I made an offer on the 4Runner and he agreed. Then I got the VIN from him and found the truck had been in a wreck. This is the second 4Runner I did not get because I found something out at the last minute.

I am now looking into getting a 2006. I will let you know if I am successful.
 
30,000 miles is nothing for a Toyota. There is no need to worry about reliability if the truck was properly maintained. On the other hand, 30,000 miles is a lot of miles to put on in one year. The average is 12,000 miles a year so you may have some problems with resale value in the future. It all depends on how long you plan on keeping your 4Runner.
 
After some thought and approval from the wife, I decided to get a 2006. Drove to Maryland last weekend to trade my BMW for a 2006 Limited V8 4x4 in Shadow Mica color. It has NAV, Spoiler, Exhaust Tip, F+R Side Airbags, and X-REAS.

My drive back was very different from the M3, I love it. The total drive there and back took about 25 hours but it was worth it.
 
Just curious, why did you have to go so far just for a 4runner?

The dealer guaranteed me above blue book on my trade and below invoice for the 4Runner. All the local local dealers gave me less for my trade and did not have any Limited V8 4x4 withthe options I wanted. (This model with 4x4 is hard to find in the Southeast).
