possible to improve 2.7L 4-cyl T4R engine performance with intake/exhaust mod?

so, i need to replace my exhaust system, including the catalytic. i was wondering if spending some extra $$ beyond the Walker OEM parts might get me some more horsepower. to see any benefit, would i also need to replace the air intake system? if so, i'd love to know what pairings of intake/exhaust parts folks out there have used to mod their T4R, regardless of engine type.

Thats my exhaust page on my cardomain. we have the same engine so this is very much worth looking at in my opinion

I have an intake and the entire exhaust done from headers to tip.

I don't know what your emissions requirements are like but i knocked out the guts of the cat and put on a o2 sensor simulator and a free flow muffler on my old 2000. Made a big difference IMO.

right on, James! exactly what i was looking for. i love my 3RZ 4-banger, but i'll bet it can do better. my exhaust manifold was cracked when i bought mine, too, but i replaced it with OEM for cheap (oops). i want to upgrade it all now that the cat is toast. thanks!
