Possibly stupid question. Footwell lights in '15 LE

I have a possibly stupid question regarding interior lights.
My '15 LE has interior LEDs under both footwells, right?
The reason I am asking is that right now only the driver side lights up when the interior lights come on. I could have swore they were on both sides.
My suspicion is that the remote starter installer has accidentally or intentionally cut the wire during installation.
Would someone kindly confirm there are bluish LEDs on both driver and passenger sides, please?

Actually, the more I think about it, could it just be a harness connector that was mistakenly not reconnected if and when he needed to remove a panel somewhere?

Yes both light together. They are bright in park, and dim slightly when in drive. I believe they are on the same harness, but would need to look further to confirm.

Probably forgot to plug it back in when he re-installed the panels. I don't have an LE, but can't you see the led light under the dash if you peeked under there, or is it a hidden light that's bouncing light off something else under there?

There is a little pinhole where the LED peeks out. I haven't been able to crawl under there for a look during the daylight hours, but I assume it is there. My guess is that they disconnected the harness and forgot to reconnect. I will try to fish around and if no luck, I will bring in back to the installer.

Sure does look like a fastener is missing (empty black hole) and the LED is possibly popped out of place (to the right of the air duct).
I will have to go fish around but it looks to me that the installer screwed me over.

I dunno about screwing you over, more like just being a bit sloppy if he forgot to put the light back into the panel, as well as replace the plastic clip or screw.

An aftermarket remote start install is a pretty big job, and I'm sure he had every panel under that dash out of the vehicle. He was probably tired and started rushing through buttoning up your 4runner towards the end of the day, as that would have been one of the last things to re-install.

Sorry to hijack your thread. Does anyone know if trail guys can buy parts from toyota to add footwell lights ourselves? Didn't even realized the LE had these.

You might be right, but you should expect to get your vehicle back the way you gave it to them. I pulled the lower panel off from below the glove box. it came right off without tools. The LED assembly clips right in to the plastic trim panel and was plugged/wired in to the harness.

The problem was that the LED bulb itself was missing from the holder.

I'll be calling them tomorrow to ask them to replace it or credit me some cash and I will pick a bulb up myself.

So of course my installer admitted fault and offered to order a replacement but I wanted it done today. I went to the local Toyota dealer and they have no idea how to order an LED bulb for that assembly. They couldn't even find the LED assembly in the system at all. The only thing we could find that resembled it was part of a huge wiring harness.
Does anyone know how to locate/order a stock LED bulb for this light location?

Well, it seems my local parts guy just got back to me and he claims that Toyota says there are no part numbers for a replacement LED bulb for that assembly. The only way he knew to replace the bulb was to order the entire dash wiring harness.
Does anyone have a better idea?

I have the 'Step/courtesy' light listed as a 175 or 168. You can try to match it with the driverside bulb for verification!

OK, now we are getting somewhere. That's good to know that it isn't some proprietary light module. I will try to get under and pull the driver's side to match.

I think those bulb numbers are for those lights at the bottom of the door. I would be interested if someone knew how to upgrade these LEDs and also maybe those in the door handles too for the 5th Gen LEs.

Actually, FiReBReTHa's question brings up another one from me. I have a 2012 Limited and these lights are a dark amber, almost orange. Are the later Limited models using a white colour instead? If so, I would be curious in part number for the whole harness, it might even allow any other model to use those newer LEDs, even older 5th gen Limited models.

Here is a shot of the LED module after it has been removed from the panel under the glove box (and with the connection cover removed). The nitwits at the mobile electronics company that installed my alarm found me a replacement but it was an amber light.
I have grown tired of their incompetence and will try to source the module on my own. They actually want me to take it to the local Toyota dealer who will source and fix the module under warranty.
Somehow, they will fix it under warranty, but they can't get the part by itself. Only as part of the larger dash wiring harness.
Anyway, the bulb does not appear to be replaceable (which is baffling how the bulb got lost in the first place) and there are no meaningful numbers on the module. I am at a loss on where to go other than a junkyard to search totaled Runners.

I agree. Sourcing your own bulbs is a great idea. You may want to check superbrightleds.com, VLEDs.com, or even Amazon.com to get what you need to replace it.

LED's would not be "replaceable" in themselves, you would more than likely need the whole module that is in you hand.

I have been wanting to add these to my truck too, the only thing I found was a kit that looks very similar for the RAV4.

Another option could be to replace the module with a recessed standard bulb socket for which you can get an LED bulb. Would require some minor drilling. May take this route since I really don't like the amber colour of the existing LEDs.
