post abs kicking in surge

I had my abs kick on today and i had tried it before on purpose and each time, i notice a surge immediately post stop of a few feet. any reason why this would be happening?

And just so I am clear, I am not referring to driveshaft clunk. Not a clunk. Definitely a surge with engine/brakes. Hard to describe.

Just hypothesizing here but Ive noticed my transmission seems to go into neutral under braking. Im guessing that once you come to a stop the transmission reengages and this surge you feel is the torque converter once again engaging. Again, just a guess based on my observations.
