Post Lift Question

I installed my lift this weekend (881's & 890's with 5100's all around). Post lift measurements showed I'm about 1/2" lower on the drivers side rear, and 1/4" lower at the drivers front (with 1/4 tank of gas). This is way better than the lean I had before, but after all that hard work it would be great to be totally level. If I go one step up on the 5100 front will that be too much?

Would I be better off with a small spacer? I'd like to sort it out soon so i can return my spring compressor tool and get an alignment!

I promise to post pics as soon as this rain clears up

Id leave the front alone and maybe throw a 10mm trim packer on the rear. If you adjust your shocks up in the front you will gain about .65" if you have tundra 5100s. If you have Tacoma 5100s then a move up would net even more since they.have 3 positions vs. The tundras 5.

Don't do anything yet. Give it all time to settle. Also make sure that your spring orientation is the same Left to Right on both the front and rear. Rear is easy because of the way the spring seats in the lower spring mount but the front can change slightly since the lower spring seat moves around on the shock.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. cj80, that's a good idea about the rear spacer. Also, they're Tundra's.

PitbullRescuer, the rears were easy to ensure spring position as you said. I wasn't aware the fronts needed to be in the same orientation. You're saying the spring seats need to be at the same rotation point on both sides?

I have some noticeable positive camber up front but I suppose with relatively long life tires I should be ok for a bit. How far would you guys drive to let the springs settle?

I believe pitbull is talking about the spring may not be seated in the front correctly on both sides. That bottom plate spins around as you already know but I don't think it matters if the tail end of springs are pointed in the same direction. If I'm wrong then I'll learn something new today.

Not being an a_s, but you put the 890's in on the correct side, right? I ask as I almost put them on the wrong sides. They are marked, A/B, and they are meant to be on specific sides. I think A was the driver side.

Yeah, the rear springs are the same way right? If the rear OMEs aren't marked id check each to see which is taller and put it on the driverside of course.

You know, I didn't actually notice any sort of markings on mine.. I got them from another member (new but open box). I might have got lucky as my guess is the difference would be more than 1/2 inch once they're installed? Does yours sit perfectly level?

In the beginning it did sit level. There is a little bit of a lean at this point so I may get the spacers/shims to level it back out.
I purchased my lift new so the coils were marked A or B. I don't know that one was taller, possibly the spring was a tad stiffer to allow for the extra weight on the drivers side.
Maybe someone has a way to identify which is which without the identification. It was only a sticker that had the marking on it.

Not sure what you mean by the same way, but I didn't notice any physical difference between the two springs. I do remember having to spin them so they sat properly in the location. Meaning, at the end of the coil (literally where there is no more metal) it was hitting a piece to stop it from rotating any more.

I'm at work so I can't take any pictures to show you what I'm talking about.

Maybe someone else can chime in and be a little more clear on what I'm referring to.

I meant were the rear OMEs labeled A and B as well.

The 890s came with a white label on them (marking them A and B) the taller one is the A and goes on the drivers side.

sorry, walked into a meeting, couldn't respond. Sorry for the confusion, the 890's (rear) are the ones I was referring to. They should be marked A or B. Mine was marked with a label/sticker that had the marking on it.

Wanted to update you folks. After settling I was 1/2" lower on the driver side (front and rear) I bumped up the Bilstien 5100 one notch in the front tonight. Now it's almost perfect! I'm only about 1/8" lower on the drivers side rear than the passenger rear.

As promised, here's a few pics from before leveling.

Before it all started..
