Post pics of your black/gray wheels please!

Need help picking a color for these wheels. I thought I was sold on a graphite color (like paddlenbike has on his), but last night I started thinking gloss black might look good. I like the way my truck looks after it's just been waxed, very wet looking, hence the gloss black. The graphite would get clear coated too. The wheel has been scuffed up more than the picture shows, probably get the first coat of self etching primer down today.

Also, I've got new imitation BFG AT's (TW Wardens) that will go on these. I know it's kinda 80's-ish to go white letter out, but it does look good on some trucks, especially shiny ones. What do you guys think for mine? White or black letters out?

I like graphite better than black. To me, black wheels, especially gloss, always make the tire look dirty unless its tire shined up. Have you thought about a silver color?

And I'm always for white letters out...

I have silver on there now, not feelin' it. I like matte black, but to me those always look dirty. I think this picture may have just answered my question, I think I'll go graphite.

I wish I knew how to do this with photoshop....


Now I just need to see some dark wheels with white letter out....

Those Tundra wheels always look sweet in graphite. It's hard to tell how the white letters will look. Might have to slip the tire guy a case of beer and have him mount two each way, let me stare at it for a while.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with graphite. In fact, I went to buy the paint and they were all out. On the way home, I noticed the color of my neighbor's Silverado wheels had changed... to a color very similar to graphite. :shocked: I'm gonna go see if that was indeed the brand and color I was looking it 'cause it looked good!

Ya, I think I put around 5 or 6 coats of clear.

My issue with black is the color is so dark you can't see any pattern to the wheel at all. It just makes me think of the cheap black steel "rockcrawler" wheels the Jeep guys all use.

Another vote for graphite.

Love the non-metallic red, by the way. It's so rare to see a 3rd gen in that color.

* I finally got my new 5-Star Toyota Wheels installed.
* I had them Powder Coated at --San Diego Powder Coating-- which is located in El Cajon.
* I painted the Center Caps Toyota logo gloss red by hand.

Total cost: $320 out the door for the powder-coating.

* It took about 1 hr to paint the Logo red on all 4 of these
* I actually spent far more time failing at painting the center-caps gloss black before adding the red
* I was forced to strip them down to the plastic and primer them before I got the paint to stick

I picked up the custom rear bumper from Savage Offroad near Riverside, CA. The total cost was $450, bare metal. I spent another $150 have it PowderCoated by the San Diego PowderCoating Company. Since I sold the factory rear bumper and hitch for $250, I am only out $350 for the upgrade

I've got some serious pressure now to make mine look good; both of those look great! I'm only into the wheels for $90, plus probably $35 for paint. If these don't work out, Tundra wheels will probably find their way under her, or come bonus time, FJ TRD's in Gunmetal....

Brian, your wheels look great; much better than the standard rattle can flat black. I actually hated getting away from the 5-spoke alloys but I really needed a 17" wheel for the tire size I wanted to run.

Thanks! They're American Racing Teflon coated Mojave's, so they're like a dark gray. The nice thing is the mud washes right off of them, like a dish pan.
