Has anyone built rear drawers or a cargo system? I searched but only found ANTMAN's storage system and I need inspiration to build some drawer storage in the back.

I've been reading the ExPo thread to try to get ideas, but want to see what other 5th gen owners have done

Storage on the slide-out!

$100 and 12+hrs of labor with ample breaks for cold ones in the garage netted me a new storage solution. Built on the slide and easily removable in under 5 mins.

Do you guys ever find that you wish you didn't have the back filled with drawers in your day to day life if your runner isnt a dedicated 4x4 or overland rig? I'd love to put some in but worried about killing the functionality of my truck for normal life

I was concerned about that until I started looking into designing some drawers. If you look through this thread you can see some great slim builds that are permanent and some that are not permanently attached to the truck.

I plan on building mine to keep in almost 99% of the time but I do want the option if needed to remove it so I'm looking into securing it like Fireguy25.

Does anyone make a cargo rack/shelf for the back area of the 4runner? I have the cargo slide, thinking a shelf about the height of where the cargo cover would sit would be nice. Throw a few light things on the shelf, heavier items on the slide and it's all easy to get to.

I spent a lot of time yesterday researching buying vs building it's not even close. Yes you can buy, but good grief the best I could find was about $1k to get into the game buying. I can build this out for $100 and it will do the exact same thing. I'm going to build this one right here starting today
