Post your garage/man cave

got this idea from an epic thread on vwvortex...

i always wanted to have a garage, and for two years now, first house, that came to fruition with a 2-car garage connected via a breezeway.

have already done quite a bit of work in there and have been cleaning it/thinking about doing some epoxy floor or maybe racedeck type tiles.

post your setup in here...ill get some shots of mine soon

"Man cave" sounds like 2 dudes on a smart car talking about wanting to go buy a tall white espresso mocha at starbucks. I will pay, no, me.

YOUR GARAGE NEEDS a refrigerator, bluetooth powerful audio to rock some jams, And a work bench of some kind to put the smaller fridge at eye level. I made my own workbench from home depot lumber and it is SOLID.

haha, not my cup of espresso with your man cave visions...i was thinking of making a workbench but added a stackon little workbench next to a workbench platform the previous owner built off a wall. the fridge is a cool idea. im finishing my spare bay for lounge type area/TV/youtube TV subscriber for that setup.

the bluetooth speakers are a great option for the garage, too, good call
 
I recently bought a house (2/19) and the garage was my first project

Garage mods:
  • Epoxied the floors (Heavily prepped before applying; degreased, acid etched)
  • Installed an on wall opener (Highly recommended; quiet, more overhead space, gonna need it for an upcoming mod (keep reading))
  • LED lighting throughout (Very much so overlit, but it's great for working on vehicles, etc..)
  • On wall storage (No pics of this)

Upcoming Garage mods:
  • Insulate garage door
  • minisplit ac/heat system (Likely a 2 ton mitsubishi unit)
  • Raise ceiling
  • Insulate above ceiling
  • install lift :zoom:

this could be a cool thread. this is my setup. my t4r doesnt fit. just part the sti and my daily in here mostly. since this picture i have added a fridge up in the corner

Whats the floor? Nice setup and Suby. I have some retro fun in Subaru a buddy of mine had stage 2+ bugeye when we were 17, thing was like 2 years old.
 
I stumbled in to a stilt house in which the prior owner was a dedicated bachelor who loved his toys, thus the ground level (10’ high!) was closed in with an extension for the cigarette boat, wheel stops where the corvette was parked, a covered area for more boats, and a small area for the Harleys. Sadly he failed to take good care of the house overall so while we are gutting and remodeling the living space upstairs, most of the ground floor is occupied by our “stuff” as well as a temporary wood shop full of saws (wife is currently restoring her claw foot tub in there and covering everything in lead paint) though her TJ Wrangler is parked where the PO’s cigarette boat was parked and my bikes are kind of scattered here and there. And our RV is stashed in the covered area where the PO’s extra boats would’ve been. One day it’ll be glorious, though.

i saw in the vw thread someone used VCT or the classic medium sized black/white checked tiles. they liked it for performance and value compared to the racedeck style...
 
awesome setup...small world too i am a local surfer at little compton (house is 10 mins from horseneck). you a point Judith charger? winter surfer here too
 
Guys, I was wondering how much did you all spend on building your garage? A friend of mine who lives in Melbourne, Australia wants to build a garage for his car. So he contacted guys from LSS Melbourne | Commercial and Industrial Sheds, Garages, Carports, Workshops + more. This is one of the biggest local companies over there in Melbourne, with over 60 + years’ experience in building everything from rural sheds to garages and carports, using premium steel. They said they could talk about the costs only after they fully understand what he needs, and he wants to give it a try. What do you think?

Great idea for a thread. Here's my 2-car garage in the midst of an LS1 engine swap on my old Z28. Beer fridge, workbench, engine hoist, TV and DVD player.

You have the number 1 requirement for any man cave/garage....."Beer fridge", for the most part all the rest a person if needed could do without, BUT NOT THE BEER FRIDGE!!!! :cheers:

Agreed! Freezer is full of spiffy big ice cube trays for bourbon.

$50 in the classified ads back in 1998 and it's still keeping things cold. Lately it's been extended due to COVID to include extra food that won't fit into the kitchen fridge, but still plenty of room for beer. Non-negotiable.
