If it were me, an extended stainless line is cheap insurance. I know we always speak of what ifs... But what if you were to get the rear bound up in such a way that you needed to extra slack? If it isn't important, it wouldn't be offered. Especially not by 2 companies. I'm not a "parts pusher" by any means, but I firmly believe in doing it right the first time. So if you plan on wheeling it, and by wheeling it, I mean hitting more than just a dirt road, then I say do it. Why not?

What are the exact part numbers on the shocks that Toytec is supplying with their kit?

I have the 5125's from my Tacoma build and I am tempted to throw them in (PT# F4-BE5-A463-H6) along with the LC coils.

Bilstein states they are 9.25 travel shocks (although there is slight discrepancy in the part number) and I think they would work well with 8 or 9 wrap coils.

was wondering, from people like 00spork or Sn0wrunner,

you think that the bilsteins will give me more travel and better ride with the 8 wrap coil than say the POS procomp es9000 I have now??

I think thats prob a dumb question I already know the answer to, but just checking, and then for kicks,

you think that the Procomps would be ok for awhile if I go to the 8 wrap LC's??

I think the 8 wraps are gonna be the first thing I do after my Gas tank skid by Lil Skips offroad

Ya... there isn't a Bilstein part number listed on Toytec's site, just their in-house part numbers.

If anyone has the Bilstein 5125's and wants to check... :thanks:

In any case, what is the recommended shock length when switching to the LC coils? Stick with whatever the manufacturer recommends for 3" of lift?


Duhockey - you'll probably be fine running the Procomps, just won't have much in the way of droop travel (as your shocks will be extended further). Obviously the travel length doesn't change, just where the starting point is within the shock body. Don't do any pre-running where the suspension will hit its limit on droop and you will be good (or just add temp limit straps).

So far I know LINY has sky jackers with 9 wraps and ELTON has sky jackers with his 8 wraps. What are the part numbers for those shocks? (I'm sure there are many different length skyjacker shocks...) I'll be running the stock TRD Tundra bilstein (yellow body with blue boot) shock with the TRD tundra springs for now for the front. I don't know how worn they are until I put them in and test the ride. I'm really aiming for the most comfortable ride with this lift. I got the spring part of this comfort lift figured out, just have to narrow down the shocks.

If I just lifted the runner without the diff drop, panhard bar, and brake lines and just drove on-road will that be putting any components in danger? Or should I wait until I can afford the parts just mentioned? I'm getting impatient with this lift and wanna get the runner lifted aready!

Saturday I will have my 8 wrap lc coils replaced with 9.25 wrap lc coils, Im running 2.5" lift procomp es9000 in the back, Ill let you know. Eventually, I want to switch to the Bilsteins since they have better extension.

Perfect! Thanks du. How did those procomp's ride? I have both the 9.25 wrap coils from a 91 and the 8 wraps from a 97. I think they are the same length as your current ones. (double purple/blue/whie and purple/green/white) Anyway, I WANT to go with the 9.25 wraps because I know I'm gonna end up wanting MORE LIFT after a while. But I don't have money to do a huge bling front lift. So for now I'm going with the trd tundra front setup because i hear good things about it and it's a comfortable ride. I'm afraid with the trd fronts and 9 wraps i'm gonna have MAJOR RAKE.

I do plan on putting in a 1" or 2" bodylift somewhere down the line. I'll probably be running the small 265/75/16 i have now until they wear out. Then I'll go and purchase aggressive a/t's or maybe some tame m/t's on my split 5 spoke sequoia/tundra rims.

x2 on wanting part #s for bilsteins that match with LC springs. Bilstein makes about 15 different lengths of the 5125's. I dont know which one to buy. And does anyone have more pictures with 7 wraps in the back. Or how bout some more pictures of yours Fonerunner?

These are just going to be filler shocks until I can afford better ones. For the price of these skyjackers I don't think it's a bad idea. Any input?

I used the Skyjacker 2" lift shock and OME 890's in the back of my rig, and like them. My old shocks were pretty worn, and the skyjacker's gave me a better ride over my old ones. Bilsteins are best, but for the money, skyjacker's are a pretty good bang for your buck!

The way I see is, they're made for the FRONT of a LAND CRUISER. That's a heavy motor in a heavy truck. I think they'd excel for towing.

They absolutely SUCK! for towing. If you tow anything with any considerable amount of tongue weight on a regular basis (for me, a boat @ least once or twice a week), its absolutely miserable. also puts a higher angle on your CV boots. I have noticed some accelerated wear on my boots from this summer's sailing season already. and the longest trip i took with the boat so far has been 100 mi. if you want to tow get the air lift air bags. not sure how to put em on using the LC coils, but man would i like to experiment (seeing as how i have some sitting in the box for the 4runners stock suspension set-up.

ACTUALLY, GOIN TO PICK UP THE SAILBOAT TODAY AFTER WORK. WILL TAKE A PIC BEFORE I HOOK IT UP AND AFTER. PREPARE TO BE AMAZED. ILL GET A PIC OF CV ANGLES BEFORE AND AFTER AS WELL.

However, for offroading i love the LC coils. they ride like a Cadillac on the road too.
