Powdercoat color/ textures

Im waiting for mt Demello bumper to be delivered next week, I decided to have the powdercoat done locally so that it is not damaged during shipping and so I can choose my color and texture, plus if anything ever happens to the finish such as rust through or peeling I can take it up with the local shop for repair.

There are 6,500 colors/ textures to work with. I like black, and all the trim, wheels and such are smooth satin black . I originally though I might color match the bumper but salsa red pearl will be almost impossible, expensive multi coat and prob still wont exactly match.

Will smooth satin black show scratches more than a wrinkle or sand paper texture ? Has anyone done multi coats to get a nice shine ? My head is all over the place with this and looking at 6,500 options in the form of little squares on my computer screen isn't helping. I'm looking for pics, ideas, and suggestions. Any close up pics or pics that really show texture (or lack of) would be great.
Thank you everyone at T4R, I found you guys when I was researching lift options at the begining of it all. I immediatley coveted your awesome 4th gens with armor and big tires. It comes in waves for me, and right now im chomping at the bit to get this bumper done. Its a Demello single hoop with blinkers and acro lights, superwinch 8500 was delivered last night.

Black and gunmetal are my favorites. The light textured pc looks awesome and would be my choice for sure. My neighbor did his Denali wheels in the black texture and it is sweet.

Personally, I would go black wrinkle powder coating. It will look somewhat similar to this:

I believe they have different levels of texture so make sure you see the samples for yourself in person. Any reputable PC shop will have a wall full of color samples that you can see and feel in person.

You also might want to talk to your local Line-X dealer. They do offer color matched Line-X coating that a lot of Tundra guys use to color match their beds.

Im 2 days from having my Demello bumper in hand, and still have no idea how im going to finish it.I ordered bare metal as I saw reveiws stating the powder coat they sell them with may be sub par, and rusting through. I think powdercoat will look best and is inexpensive but may be prone to chipping, spray paint is cheapest and easy to touch up but I live in CT and salt and stuff migh make it a rust fest. Then there is line x or similar. Im thinking line x would be most durable, except they dont honor their lifetime garuntee if its not in a truck bed. Does anyone have an older line x or line x extra truck bed that held up well ?How about rhino liner? Im intrested in how easy to clean it is, and how much fading to expect. I dont want to pull this bumper off every year to paint it, so I want a very durable finish. Roll on liner prob isnt an option as I want it professionaly sprayed. Too many options, not enough input. I need pics of old bedliner, experiences with powdercoat longevity. Thanks guys !

maybe a wrinkle finish black powder coat and IF it chips ...touch it up with a little spray paint...PC is alot stronger then paint

If you decide togo with Line-X, make sure you go with Line-X Extra. This option keeps the coating nice and glossy over the years. the regular Line-X will fade to a chalky black in a couple of months.

My dad has a Tundra with Line-X Extra and although he doesn't put it to hard abuse, it's extremely durable and it still looks new when it's clean. I like their product, but personally, I don't think I would like that kind of texture on my front bumper. The surface is not as "fine" as a wrinkle powder coat finish.

If you're going to wheel extremely hard banging into rocks/trees all the time, go with paint. Prime it well and add a few nice coats on there. Otherwise, I think that powder coating is a great option and pretty durable when it comes to rock chips from DD. Go for it if you can get a good deal on pricing.

I was quoted $100 -150 for powdercoat. I just dont want to get 1 chip or crack and have to pull the bumper. I guess i could rattlecan repair the tetured powder. I just dont onow at this.point. i dont have a ton of experience with powdercoat, and i seems like it will need to be re done at some point. Maybe i will flip a coin, heads is powder tails it.line x extra!

This just makes me think of all the threads on keeping textured surfaces clean. Paint just won't stand up well, but the powder-coat shouldn't have chipping issues at all. The Powder is baked on to cure out and should be strong as anything. Seeing as people put it on wheels where they'll see rocks all the time I'd trust it. People use it base on it's resistance to chipping.
The powder coat bumper would be the best option. I'd say get some texture but not much. The deeper the texture, the harder it will be to keep clean. A hammercoat would look nice on it.

Thanks for the pics, the bumper is prob going to be powdercoated. I decided that the truck is just too shiny to have a dull textured finish. Im goin satin black powdercoat with a very mild texture , maybe no texture. That hammer tone would prob be the most I would go texture wise. I still think the line x is tougher, but if Im unhappy with the powder I could eventually re do it in line x
