Power antenna replacement

I know the factory part is like $135 from partsouq, but I found a universal power antenna at crutchfield for $70 with free shipping.

Made by RetroSound, has anybody installed PA-01 in a third gen?

How about any other, aftermarket power antenna?

I got a "reman" antenna from these guys - PNW 4Runner Connection - ??

Cost bout 75 bucks a couple years ago, but works great. I have bought a few things of Josh. He is a nice guy.

I just pull my power antenna modules out of the pick and pulls. Mostly they are good and you can use an aftermarket Martin them...

Whatever you do, keep it lubed with some dry graphite lube to avoid future problems. These days, I just don't use the antenna to keep it from breaking. :bluejump:

Is your unit bad or is the cable/gear strip broken? Basically, do you hear the motor going by the antenna does not go up and down?

If that’s the case, you can get by with a cheap antenna only. I just did this a few months ago and it only cost me about 10 bucks.

If your motor is bad, that’s a different story.

The antenna snapped off, the motor works fine - I hear it run when the radio powers on. I barely use it to be fair but I'd like to fix it.

Changing the antenna mast are easy to do. I done 2 so far.. You can do it by just need to remove the plastic inner fender. Best to replace those plastic grommets as they get really brittle.

I've bought two power masts from TheAntennaSource.com, maybe $23 (each). Fast shipping, quality product, simple fix. They have plenty of other options too, if you're looking for something different.
