Power antenna switch

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I would love to do this to my 93 so I don't break off any more antennas. I came across this switch (actually two buttons side by side) for an 80 series landcruider which would be cool to have since the buttons are illuminated (part 84760 60030). What I'm still confused about is; since this switch has 6 wires/pins, would it work with this mod or would there be additional wires that I'd need to splice into for full switch functionality (aside from the illumination)? I won't need the corresponding antenna relay for this switch, right? I have the option to get the relay but it's an additional $50...

Old thread, I know, but I'm having a related problem. After 2 years of perfect operation, my pioneer head unit is draining my battery because its trying to send power to the antenna mast motor even when the vehicle is off (small amperage draw for radio presets/clock). I'm not familiar with the wiring...would an antenna raise/lower switch solve this problem? I'm concerned the issue is a malfunction within the head unit and would only be solved by interrupting power upstream of the stereo...ie if the blue wire sends signal from the stereo to the antenna motor, is it still going to be sending power to the switch constantly at a very low draw?

How to verify... Separate your head unit wire to the antenna and see if it has 12 volt to it when the unit is on and zero volts when the head unit is off. As that antenna wire is just a trigger for the power antenna circuit. If your head unit is still providing 12 volts to that antenna wire even when off...Then you know its the head unit causing the issue...:-(

All my aftermarket head units worked properly with the power antenna. I have just bent a few mast over the years.. but those are fairly easy to change if they don't snap off ...

Whats the power draw with everything off? How much current is the radio drawing on the preset clock wire?? Any amplifiers in the mix with this radio?

I'm sure you could get it to work. I don't know how those buttons actuate, but you could probably use some kind of timed momentary relay Like this one and just time it to run for as long as it takes the antenna to fully extend, and then do the same with another relay to bring it back in.

If I had to guess, one wire is 12v in, then one ground and two 12v out that'd go to the relays for both buttons. Last two wires would be Illum + and -.

You'd need to take a multimeter or find a wiring diagram to see exactly what wire does what, but in theory what you're suggesting would work.
