power curve on 04' 4runners

Dose anyone know where to find the graph of the V8 and/or V6 in the new 04' 4runners?

I am interested in the 6 for the fuel econ. but i wanna see the power curve, to see how the peak hp and tourqe builds..

The V8 is almost completely flat, with some drop off at higher rpm's while the V6 builds to max at higher rpm's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I saw some graphs at one point.

now, i'm not speaking from experience here - i drive a 100hp 22re, no v8's for me - but what i've seen in past vehicles, the reason the v8 economy is worse than the v6 is probably the fun factor. if you drive the v8 as if you had the v6 and keep your foot off the long skinny pedal, you'll (probably) get great gas milage. i get 22mpg in my '89 with the 4 cyl, and i get 21mpg in my '90 with the 6 cyl. granted the 3.0 isn't much better in terms of horsepower (it's about 150, right?), but if i drive the 6cyl harder then my milage will drop to 16 or so. since i can't drive the 4cyl that hard, i don't get worse milage there.

so after all the rambling, my main point is: i wouldn't put milage high on your list for your decision, gas milage is determined by how you drive much more than people think it is.

At least for '03 the graphs were in the Toyota 4Runner brochure.

agreed! and well said. Another consern i have is how much harder the V6 might have to work, compared to the 5 speed with the V8. So that chart would answer some questions, peak hp and torque mean little when you hardly ever get to that rpm.

also i couldnt find that graph in the 03' brochure online.

i think the chart is mis printed.

4.0-liter DOHC 24-valve EFI VVT-i V6
245 hp @ 5,200 rpm/282 lb.-ft. @ 3,800 rpm

4.7-liter DOHC 32-valve EFI V8
235 hp @ 4,800 rpm/320 lb.-ft. @ 3,400 rpm

and the v8 has 80% of the torque available at 1100rpms.

Funny, I have an 04 brochure and don't see any graphs in it. On the inside back cover, it shows a publication #? of PT4-009(7/03) and a Toyota part #? of 00617-004RU.

I noticed. The only difference is that the image chart in Thai's post doesnt have the "V6" marking the HP curve like the one I posted. The one I posted is clearly mislabeled.
