Power locks won't unlock (but locking works)

I searched the forums for other people having problems with their PDLs, but of all the threads that seemed to be close, none fit my problem.

I have a 2001 SR5 if that matters.

Starting today both drivers and passengers PDL UNLOCK is failing. Locking works fine. If I am inside, whether key is in ignition or not, if I lock then unlock, either the unlock function will do nothing, or it will unlock VERY fast, then lock again immediately. I'm definitely not slipping and hitting lock accidentally.

I stood outside with the drivers door open, key not in ignition, and tried locking and unlocking it. It worked fine the first try, then it quit unlocking. It will lock all doors, fails to unlock everything. I do hear the solenoid trying to work. I tried the passengers control with the same results.

Everything else seems to work fine.

I find it odd that I can lock everything fine, but only unlock fails. It doesn't fail 100%, but probably 90%, and I really can't figure out why sometimes when I hit lock-unlock, it won't unlock (but I hear the solenoid), and other times when I hit lock-unlock, it will unlock and immediately lock again.

I'm considering an exorcism and holy water.

The other threads I found were all talking about LOCK not working, but my lock works, and another thread mentioned that neither lock and unlock work.

Any ideas on this?

Possible, but I have doubts on that because all 4 door locks do the same thing. All 4 solenoids going out at the exact same time? Very unlikely.

Sounds like the body ecm is messing up. Does you dome light work like its supposed too? If it does,then my best guess is the body ecm.

My 3rd gen 4runner was the exact opposite. They would unlock just fine but I had to manually lock them all. I never figured it out just got used to locking the doors.

Sounds like the body ecm is messing up. Does you dome light work like its supposed too? If it does,then my best guess is the body ecm.

The dome light does come on when I open the door but I didn't test the buttons recently. I will try that.

Is there more than one ECM? I just did a check look up on a 2001 ECM. For a rebuilt I found $475. My god...

Do you happen to know if my existing ECM can be tested? My guess is take it to the Toyota dealer and pay some ridiculous price to scan the computer.
