power lumbar seat issue/ cracking feeling

I just bought a 2010 trail edition and set my lumbar support so it's as far out as it goes and when I'm driving I can feel as if it's cracking or shifting. Almost like it's continuously trying to hold pressure. It's hard to explain but I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

yeah I started noticing that a few months back. mine's more like a plastic/cardboard buckling feeling when I lean into it. It keeps the pressure but still a bit annoying.

Ya , mine does it when it's out the whole way too.I'm going to see what it is when I change my seat covers to cloth.

Mine was doing it too. I have 15K on my SR5 and it started probably about 7K ago. I took it to dealership and 1st time they said it was fine. I took it back again and talked to service manager and low and behold they found it was broken. They replaced the entire seatback about 1 week ago. So far, so good. Take your truck in and insist they replace the seatback. The issue has been discussed on here enough that it is obviously not an isolated problem.

Well, it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one experiencing this but almost makes me wish I got the fj cruiser as there is less electronics. It just sucks that I just hit 1,800 miles and already a problem.

The driver seat in our TE has the same crackly issue. It does feel like it's cardboard or something. When I have the seat covers off I'll see if there's anything I can adjust that might fix the problem.

I have the same issue on my 2010 SR5. I don't mind it too much, but the fact that a dealership has indicated that it may be/is broken is a little alarming.

So I just got back from dealership and the toyota engineer looked at the problem. He said he could not reproduce the issue when driving it. DUH!!! Mechanics can never reproduce the issue when you take it into them. However, since I brought this in before and had them replace the seatback, twice, the seat guy vouched for me and told the engineer that it should be replaced. He couldn't find the exact issue either but noticed it when driving it back to his shop the first time. So after 6 visits to the Toyota dealership they will finally replace the seat. Only 2 more visits to go and I will have a brand new seat. Go Toyota!
