Power or Ground??

Ok, so I am reassembling my rear hatch door assembly and the wires coming from the latch motor are Green with a yellow stripe and the ones connecting to the hatch handle are Black and Red. Are the Black wires the Ground and the colored ones the Positive?

Yes, that's usually the case, but if you want to be certain, test the wires with a voltmeter.

Hey Tom! Looks like you are deep into it. I looked at the schematic and it shows the green w/ yellow as "hot". Red for hot black for not is generally the case but they do not show the red and black in the schematic. If its just a switch it shouldn't matter. Are your arms feeling a little heavy?

Ha! Not yet man. I have only got so far as the wiring dilema. I want to make sure the latch handle works b4 i tear the damn hatch apart. The manager at the stealership said he would do it next wk when I have them fix my tpms sensors but i dont want 2 have to drop the woman at the airport at 5:30 on Monday so i am trying to get it done. Thanks for all ur help guys! I downloaded the wiring diagram and had couldnt make anything of it...

How come no plug on the red and black? Used part?

The red and black wires are from the latch handle itself, which is separate from the plastic "garnish piece". Said connector stayed attached to the wires leading from the latch motor assembly and the red and black wires stayed with the handle.

This picture shows the two pieces together. The small connector leads from the latch assembly and the noticibly larger connector leads to the handle. The red and black wires should be in the large connector...

I dig,so the wires pulled out of the connector. The handle is only a switch. You can hook them up either way, If you take off that sleeving I bet theres a tiny piece of insulation still crimped in the pins (if you just have to have it right).

So how exactly do you do that? I have been able to remove the white piece but can't open up the connector any further than that.

There must be a way to pull the pins out of the plastic piece. Can you see any part of the pins from the side, maybe through a small hole for each pin? You might have to push in the side w/ a small screwdriver to release each pin. I can't see enough to tell.

The connector is a solid piece. I tried to pushe the pins out but they would only go so far and there isn't any material left in them. The wires pulled out clean. Now to test the latch...

Maybe there is a tab visible only from the end that you have to bend down to release the pin. They have to come out or you can't reconnect the wires without buggering up the connector block. Anyway does it work?

I didn't get to try it yet- I was drug to a church thanksgiving dinner with the woman and her grandmother... I think the wires will slide right in and then I can clamp them down again. Stupid latch handle mechanism uses plastic expanding fittings that I have to use pliers to reduce to get the latch handle out of the garnish piece.
