Power seat question

I found the truck I want. Finally.

2006 V8 Sport Edition 4WD.

The only problem is the drivers' side power seat does not recline. The other power adjustments all work, so it's not a fuse issue. The recline doesn't work on just one side, so I'm assuming either the motor that drives the recline is bad/seized/etc or it's not getting power.

I'm tempted to say screw it and buy the truck anyways, but I'd like to at least get an idea of what I'm getting into and who can repair it (besides me with enough time, money, and spare parts).

What are some best/worst case possible causes. Anyone had or fixed this issue before? I tried searching but didn't have much luck with the different search strings.

Worst case, I've found some drivers' seats on ebay for like 2-300 bucks + Freight, so that might be the path I end up down.

Your third sentence above pretty much sums it up, with a bad switch a possible cause of the no power.
So you already no what to troubleshoot and replace.

I wouldn't pass up purchasing a vehicle because of a power seat recline issue. It could be something as as simple as a gummed up electric motor or a gummed up power switch. you might be able to swap out parts from passenger seat in the mean time just to make your ride a little more comfortable.

Seat recline switch not working

Hey all,

Strange issue occurred today. 2006 T4R Sport 4X4 V6. Installed an aftermarket stereo today. Spent most of that time sitting in the passenger seat. Never adjusted the seat recline, but noticed after working for awhile that it was almost completely reclined. Went to pull it back up with the switch, and the switch doesn't work. Fore/aft works fine, just no recline. Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Jared
