Power steering leak stopped leaking??

Hey all. A while back my power steering had developed a leak somewhere. It lost all the fluid in a matter of 2 days while driving. I had let it sit because my new job gave me a company vehicle, and I figured I’d go to fix it later on. Yesterday, I added fluid and drove it a bit in hopes to find where the leak was coming from. Except now it isn’t leaking anymore....

I’ll keep an eye on it. I have other things to fix before the winter comes. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it happening? Am I just lucky??

You can tell when a land rover has oil without checking the dipstick. If there isnt any oil under it, there isnt any oil in it. Something to think about with your power steering....

Leaks just dont go away. You should be able to find red atf fluid somewhere

I’ll give it some more time on the road. Think maybe it has something to do with the temps of the fluid?

you'll be able to hear when you're low on fluid. mine leaks, sometimes badly, but you can definitely feel it when turning and can hear the pump wine.
Is your reservoir low?

Oh I definitely heard it and felt it when it was basically empty. When it originally happened, there was power steering fluid all over on the drivers side.

I’ll take it out again tomorrow and see if it happens again. As of right now, it’s topped off.

I managed to get it leaking again and found the culprit. It is the hose closest to the drivers side wheel. It's leaking right where the rubber hose connects to the metal hose. I don't know how I missed it before.

Hey guys. Sorry to keep reviving this. It isn't where it connects. I think the power steering lone is just plain rusted through. It is the line that is closest to the driver's side wheel.

I have searched whether it is the return line or the pressure line, but I can't figure this out. Is there anyone that can verify which line this is so that I can place an order?

Thanks ahead of time.

I actually had a member from Florida pick up a rust free set for me at a junkyard a few years ago. Look in the for sale section.

Did you ever get a solution for this? Just bought my first 4Runner ever a 1999 SR5 and the power steer is leaking like a sieve.
