Hello to all! Just took ownership of this 2006 4WD V8 SR5 here in San Diego. Brand new to the forums but looking forward to making a few small improvements and sharing some pictures along the way. From my searches so far, this looks like a great community of owners!

Current Modifications:

-Spidertrax 1.25" Spacers Front and Rear WHS-007
-OE Wheels

Engine/Elect:
-AFE Pro Dry Air Filter
-HC Filter Removed
-HID 5000k

-Map Light Mod
-Kicker DS Speakers Front and Rear
-Kicker 10C124 12" Sub with Custom Enclosure
-Full Interior White LED Swap

Spark Plugs and New AFE Pro Dry Air Filter with HC removal. Went ahead and cleaned up the MAF and Intake too. Need to look into the mis-colored coil pack.

New Housings, HID Headlights, and HID 5000k kit. As noted in other posts, the 4th (bottom) bolt is a PITA!!!

One of the door speakers was blown, so a quick fix with some new Infinity 6x9's.

I'm going to pull them out tomorrow and replace them. Although they sound great, I just realized that they are only 2ohms. When in parallel with the stock 8ohm tweeter that makes the net impedance 1.6ohms! That is way too low for the stock radio or even a decent aftermarket head unit. I'm looking into new speaker choices now.

Yea it's hard to find a decent 8ohm replacement. Definitely let us know what you try.

I decided to pull the 2ohm Infinity speakers and go with all 4ohm DS Kickers front and rear using a 2-way crossover on the fronts. The new setup is a huge improvement. No more muddy bass or muted high end. The 6x9's do a great job with the mids and the tweeters are clean and crisp. the 6x9's were plug and play using the old bezel. The tweeters required the door denting and some trimming of the bracket and door foam. Nothing the angle grinder couldn't make quick work of.

Ran the new 4 gauge power for the sub today...

I'll admit, the 4 gauge is overkill for the modest amp i'm using, but why not right? This stuff is so beefy I had to use the blow torch to sweat in the end fitting for a clean power termination. I also added some black loom to the portion in the engine bay to keep it OEM looking.

For anyone that wants to do the same, there's a perfect spot in the firewall that has a rubber plug that can be removed and replaced with a grommet. No drilling required. It drops the power cable right above the pedals where you can route it out of the way and underneath the door sills to the back.

Spent the weekend under the 4Runner. Did Oil Change, Front Dif Oil, Rear Dif Oil, Transfer Case Oil, Daystar Budget Boost, All new Fender Splash Guards, Mud Flap Trimming, and a much needed Cabin Air Filter.
