Prado 2010

I do not know any site with pics of the new 4runner. But I have seen several places now with suggestions (not confirmed) of the designs of the new GX/prado.

I imagine that the new 4runner will share some of its looks/specs.

Here is a pic:

By the way in Costa Rica, the Toyota Dealership (Purdy) says that the new prado will come with a 4.6 L instead of the available 4.0 L (they do not have the 4.7 V8 -- that engine is only available for the Land Cruiser 200).

Who knows, Maybe we wont see a GX in the US and only a 4runner, as everybody seem to agree that toyota is not making a new model of the FJ. It would seem logic to at least keep the closest thing to a true off-roader with the 4runner.

Cheers,

I hope not since the 4Runner would still be looking at leaving more of it's off road heritage behind and is looking more like a Highlander.

x2...but, the most important thing is what is underneath that boring Toyota-esque exterior....

Wow, that just looks like a highlander on steroids. The new Prado surel doesn't look like a rugged offroading. If the new 4Runner looks anything like, I will consider it if the 5.7 liter is an option.

Well.....it definately looks like a ubiquitous Toyota.

It sure doesn't look any larger that the previous Prado, which I view as a good thing. The auto world has to get past the whole way of thinking that bigger is always better. At least this is true of the North American market.

But I REALLY want to see the new 4Runner.:D

Am I the only one that thinks that thing looks hideous? Looks like a bulldog that got kicked in the face.

It looks like a Highlander with a different front. Even the wheels look like the Highlander hybrid's. I hope the new 4runner takes NO design ques from this thing.

That is correct, from the ls460.

INCORRECT!!!

The engine in the LS and GS460 is the 1UR and it is tuned for light car applications. The 4.6 that was debuted recently for the Tundra (and possibly the 4Runner and others) is probably a UR family engine (just like the 5.7 in the Tundra, LC, and Seq, and the 5.0 in the ISF and LS600h) but will be retuned and possibly from a different assembly line than the 1UR and I bet it is called the 4UR. Toyota, unlike Dodge, has enough smarts to not just drop the same engine in a truck that is also in a car (that's why the charger is not a particularly fast car, its Hemi was designed for low reving, high torque applications in trucks).

And that pic looks like a photoshopped highlander, how could you fall for that?

The reason this crap happens is because there's this uber-weird section at the bottom of every thread that shows random (and usually interesting) screenshots of past posts. And for whatever reason, it really seems to like showing really old threads instead of recent ones. And until you click into the thread, it gives no context of age.

So I could easily see it showing just the screenshot, and the guy thinking it's a 6th gen potential image lol.
