Hello. I have TLC PRADO2005 in Ukraine. And now I'm thinking about changing it on 4runner. Is There any sence? Has anybody compared these two SUVS?
OK, sit down, here it goes:
Prado vs. 4Runner:
Since you live in Ukraine, these descriptions apply to non-US versions of the 4Runner.
The Prado and 4Runner share the same Chassis, and until 2005 they shared the same 3.0 liter Turbodiesel engine.
The Prado has a full time 4WD system, while the 4Runner has a standard part-time 4WD.
The Prado has a more luxurious interior, and comes standard with third row seats.
Since the Prado is taller, it has more headroom, which also makes it more unstable, more prone to rollover and crosswind.
It's also a little heavier, so with the same engine the 4Runner is quicker.
In my country, the full featured Prado costs US$12,000 more than the 4Runner limited.
Also, starting on 2006 the 4Runner is no longer available with a Diesel engine, since it's now designated to the U.S. and Japan markets.
The Fortuner is the new Diesel option available in the 4Runner price Range. It's narrower and less refined than the 4Runner (rear drum brakes, no sunroof available, no electric seats, etc...).
So, depending on fuel prices in Ukraine and how far you travel, you can decide if Diesel is a priority.
Hope this helps!,
Offroader.
