Yea, I know this isn't news to anybody, but... 4Runners rock! Bought my '00 SR5 auto at 181,000 miles in Arizona a few years ago for $6500. It was more than I wanted to spend considering the miles, but it was in amazing shape. The seller didn't speak much English, was the 6th owner, and had few maintenance records, but the truck was flawless. I looked at other auto 4x4s that didn't match up - and couldn't even find a halfway decent MT - for a month before I took the plunge....
And I couldn't be happier! It's my constant adventure companion. We've moved to Michigan since, and I just crossed 224K. Being a mechanical newb, I've cut my teeth on some simple maintenance with this rig. After an apparently overdue spark plug/wires change last month (all due thanks to this great forum for giving me the confidence and know-how), it's running better than ever. I'm beginning to think we're easily going to reach 300K.
Dependable as anything, surprisingly easy to work on, cheap parts, great in all weather and road conditions, well-sized and versatile, kept up with Jeeps in some moderate wheeling out in AZ... yea, I wish it was a manual, but auto adds to the versatility because anybody can drive it. Love this truck.
