[MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] and I made a lift video that could help you out if you plan on installing the lift yourself. If you're already experienced with installing lifts, maybe somebody reading this thread who isn't will gain some useful information from our video.

3" is the max suspension lift that you can safely do without compromising the reliability and durability of the drive train and suspension parts.

if you want/need more, you'll have to add a body lift or the drop bracket lift which i believe, is permanent as you have to cut some parts of the ladder frame to bring down the front diff.

for shocks, in most cases, the bilstein 5100 or the bilstein 6112 have been found to be better in terms of ride comfort than the ome shocks.

for more coil spring options, you might like to consider Dobinsons Springs.

Also, just an FYI, since you're planning on putting armor at a later date, the front coil springs of the 4th/5th gen 4Runner and the FJC can be used on the 3rd gen 4Runner.

The fronts from a 5th gen work on a 3rd gen?? Like, 100% sure?

If so I'm going on CL today to grab some I saw earlier this week..

So I'm in process of ordering the BILSTEIN 5100 SERIES with the Rear Shocks (pair) and the Springs Driver and Passenger the same ones that Rickashay used in his thread here but I see it says the shocks don't fit the 3rd Gen 4Runners on the website I'm ordering from. So do they fit? Or what do I need to make them fit in the front and rear?? Is that what the bushings are for that I ordered here that will make them fit?? Sorry I'm confused and don't want to order something I can not use..

Blistein doesn't have a true 3rd gen 5100. I think until recently. But I'm not sure about the rear. But any 4th gen or FJ cruiser rear 5100 will bolt right up. But you need a long coil. Something like superflex or OME 861. As this shock is pretty long.

Well they sell these for the 3rd Gen 4Runner but I'm not sure if the Tundra springs will fit on it 100% on the front...

I use the 4runner specific 5100s with Tundras and no issues. If i can do it all over again I would purchase the Tundra isolators but my stock ones work fine
 
will you still be using LC80 coils for the rear? If yes, then the 4Runner-specific Bilstein 5100s for the rear MAY not work since those shocks are meant for a 2-inch lift only. The LC80 coils provide a minimum of 3.5" of lift, and most have about 3.75" - 4" of lift.

In my opinion, the Bilstein 5100 shocks for the rear that will work best for the LC80 coils are the ones for the 2000-2006 Tundra with P/N 24-100144. You just need to replace the lower mount bushings (which i think, you already bought) but if you get those shocks from Wheelers Offroad, then the shocks come with the correct bushings already and will be a direct bolt-on. Just tell them that the shocks will be used on a 1996-2002 4Runner.

I'm using the LC 7.5 wrap coils. Not sure if it's the same as the LC80 you're taking about..... I see that wheelers sells some rear shocks that give a lift from 0" to 3". And also a set that runs 0"-2" I think maybe 2.5". I'm think of just getting the 0-3" ones to be safe for the rear.

Yes the shock Hiluxsurf is referring to is the 0" to 3" lift Tundra shock with the bushing already replaced to fit the 3rd gen. Wheelers already replaces it for you. No fuss no muss.
