Found a 2000 4wd limited 4runner being sold locally by the second owner. The car is in great shape apparently. The guy said from the carfax it had an accident by the first owner. He said the guy was leaving a parking lot and accidently hit a light pole and that the only think that had to fixed was the front bumper. Anyway, I'm considering it but the guy is asking 9500 and that is kinda pricey to me.

So, what would you offer for it?
I was thinking 8000 or 8500. Would that be low balling? What is considered low balling anyway?

Need a lot more detail to help you determine it's market value.

The guy said its in excellent condition. The timing belt and water pump have been changed and it has been garaged kept. He said there are no rips or tears in the leather, but just the normal leather wear in the driver side. Also, he said the roof rack paint is chipping; would that be normal? He said he will send me pictures tomorrow, so when i get them ill post them so you guys can see what it looks like. Only reason for selling is because he is wanting a car for better mpg's.

I have had good luck with accident-repaired vehicles in the past, but they were priced accordingly. At the very least we need to know the miles to tell you if that price is fair.

The people that say it was in a "minor accident" always make me leary. I guess there's a possibility it was only minor, but IMO, if I have a little fender bender in a parking lot, I'm coming out of pocket for repairs before I claim it on my insurance. I'd rather not take the insurance rate hit, and to avoid this exact situation in the future.

personally, i go blue book it, then base whatever they have done off of that, just cause then you have at least a market value based on whats been reported.

Depending on where you are in the country matters as well. I'd say $8000-8500 would be a good price. I paid $8500 for a 2000 Limited w/ locker and 102k.

Mine had no accident 130k miles its a 2wd but highlander edition i got it for 5800 so i say ur paying too much for the 4wd lol
