Prime's DD Build/Adventure Thread

suspension

I'm still super impressed that a truck with the stock suspension at that age ran with those 315's so well! Awesome!

Front Tundra Bilstein 5100s on, alignment and made a spare tire mount for a 2 gallon RotoPax.

Did you use the factory springs in the front with the 5100? and what suspension are you running out back?

Yeah factory springs. 4th highest setting, probably gonna go back and move it up to the top one though. And rear is OME 891 springs and 5100s

No real build updates but took another trip to the mountains! This time the Cohutta Wilderness of N Ga

do you have any pictures of where you mounted your Viair compressor? and where did you relocate the air tank to?

I'll have to get a picture of the compressor. It's under the hood on the passenger side, just made a bracket that bolts in to a factory relay location. Tank is now under the sleeping platform towards the front. Can get to it by folding the backseat down.

Ahh Ok. yea i was thinking either under the hood or in the little empty cubby on the PS rear if the compressor will fit.

How did you run the leader hose from the compressor to the tank? that would be my biggest issue on my install if i dont mount the compressor in the rear close to the tank.

PTC fitting on the end of the leader line and then soft line along the frame to the back.

Added some led running lights under the headlights. Wired into the factory bumper light harness so they flash with lock/unlock too.

Subscribed! Love where this build has gotten to already. Showing my girlfriend this evening. She's going to dig the lights you set up on the inside and the memory foam bed platform!

Found this build whilst refreshing my memory on the 5100/stock front spring setup.

I've been MIA for a year+, haven't had any money to work on the Runner...BUT: I'm selling my house and my wife agrees we NEED to work on the truck, due to suspension struggles pulling our little 3k lb. camper. Rear sag is bad.

I already have RC rear shocks for a little added length. If I hate them I can always go Bilstein later. At least it's not strut assys. Probably going to just get 5100's up front, run 5th perch, then 891s in the rear. I'm not armored, would like to be, but I don't really wheel outside of WMA and forest service roads (which are fun, but I'm not a hardcore wheeling enthusiast...just a hunter/fisherman who likes to go places a sedan can't!).

Oh, and I'm in Euharlee, between Cartersville and Rome. Trout fished up at Noontootla, Rock, and Cooper creek (Toccoa watershed) in the Mtns last year. Stamp Creek WMA has some fun little hills and trails that are open during hunting season, too.

Maybe I'll run into you one day. Cheers on the build. Keep it coming.

Forgot about this thread so time for a quick update:

Added an awning, finished the sleeping platform and did some camping and snow wheeling. enjoy.
