PRINDL cover thingy

Hi, all! First post here; please forgive and correct any breaches of protocol.

I'm missing the plastic cover near my shifter (1999 4runner) that shows me what gear I'm in. Anybody know a part number or where I could get a replacement?

Dealer, junk yard, google search. That's my recommendations. Not a common part.

Thanks! I've tried Google, but don't really know what to search for. My brother has the same model; I may try popping his out and determining if this is something I could make with a little clear plastic and paper and/or careful painting...

I did just shoot this pic off to the dealer; I'll let y'all know what bounces back.

actually, I think I found the part here. Apparently it's called a control position indicator plate.

What is the top of the shifter look like - a stick with the button on top or a t-handle with the button on the side?
Stick shifter - 35921-35171
T-Handle - 35921-35171 (position)
35975-35121 (slider cover that goes over the position
indicator. The slider has a window to see
what the position is)

I'm guessing this is a "t-handle." Do I need 2 parts, then, the indicator and the clear cover for the indicator?

This is a breakdown of the assy. Is the part that you are looking for 35921?

I think I need 35921 and 35975. That's what it looks like to me, anyway. I haven't taken it apart to make sure.

The 2 Toyota part numbers for these parts are -
35975=35975-35121
35921=35921-35171

There are few people parting out their 3rd gens in the classifieds. I'd go that route. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Went that route, got it replaced. Turns out I only needed 35921-35171. Wife is pleased with the way it looks now. Many thanks!
