I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a lift kit for my runner, after reading countless threads and seeing pictures of all types of setups....my head was spinning from all the options.
I wound up going w/ the Toytec coilovers w/ Icon rear shocks (Toytec Ultimate ) as it seemed a few people who had OMEs wished they had gone straight to coilovers...I decided to spend the extra and get the coilovers from the get go. I waited a long time and followed some of the advice of others to do it right the first time. I am sure I made the right decision.
After the lift is installed ( doing it myself when I get off my "hitch" at sea in a couple weeks ) I am heading to the tire store to get tires and wheels.
My mind is pretty made up to get the BFG KOs in 275/70/17, I have owned several sets of KOs and miss having them. As for the size, I spend a lot of time on the highway so I am shying away from the 285s.
I want Pro Comp wheels, and have narrowed it down to a couple of models....all of them state Hubcentric= NO . I see several members running Pro Comp wheels and say they have no issues.
I want to get either the 7189s or the 7105s , but it looks like the 7189s are not available in the right lug pattern anymore? I have seen some members with them, but the pro comp site doesn't list them anymore. I dont like the striped look of the 7289s and am hoping someone may know where to get the proper fit 7189s. I also really like the 7105s, and see that AlexJet has them on his rig.....I am really considering them as a first choice.
Long story short, Question is.....Do I need to do anything special to run the pro comp rims? I am looking at the 17x8, 4.5 inch backspacing w/ zero offset . From my readings, this should bring the wheels out even w/ the wheel flares and avoid rubbing w/ that tire.
Any advice from the pro comp owners, or others with experiences? I am looking to buy the wheels in about 3 weeks and have my dealer giving me the tires for 200 each plus mount etc. Also, my TPMS sensors, can I re calibrate them for the higher psi either at the tire shop or dealer? Or will I be buying new ones?
